David! How ya doing? Been following Adam's progress via e-mail, tremendous stuff. I was talking with Steve and Bryce (sp?) Parrish at VIR (we paddocked next to each other) and we both were so happy for you guys. Can't wait to see you back at the track.

By the way, my own personal track victory -- turned a 2:24.2, my best at VIR, this weekend. Steve and Bryce had a new silver 240Z, beautiful car, ran at 2:23 out of the box.

I think Chet Wittel already turned a 1:40 at Road Atlanta earlier this year. That new car is smoking. He won both races at VIR this weekend by 25+ seconds over the fast Mazdas and BMWs. Amazing.

Good thing he didn't have any remote reservior shocks!

I knew this wouldn't even be close soon as we got a driver of his caliber in a BMW.....

    Keith,

Wait till you get the car dialed in and break the EP record at Road Atlanta with an ITS car. If that doesn't happen at the ARRC this year I'll be surprised.

    (and without those RR shocks)

I may have to run my 240z in vintage.

The EP track record is held by Grayson Upchurch, Jr./240Z at somewhere around a 1:37.0 flat. I don't think it is impossible, but Chet will have to pedal a little harder ;-)

"I may have to run my 240z in vintage."

Yeah, me too. It's sad when your brand new (34 year old) car is 11 seconds behind Chet. Actually I think the driver is about 5 seconds behind the car. It was good to knock the rust off.

Jeff, thanks for props on the new car. Bryan and I enjoyed meeting you. We'll see you at CMP.

David, It's great to hear the encouraging news. Keep us informed and we hope to see you soon.

An EP motor is cheaper than the 100+ more hp you'll need to compete in vintage, AND, most vintage groups are banning RR shocks there too! What's a poor old 240Z to do? Sounds like EP. Make you a deal on some RR shocks!

Pinky's right, 1:37 probably safe, but Chet will be sub 1:40 by the ARRC. Still have some work to do with, uh, shocks.

I have to say I was floored at the speed of that orange Bimmer, he was flying. My only complaint was that he kept hopping the curb heading up into the esses that made taking photos of the rest of the field throuh his dust a little difficult. But it provided a couple good shots of his car.

All the photos are up on the site from the weekend for anyone else that is interested in checking them out. http://www.motorsportsimaging.com/SCCA%20R...R_04/index.html

It was a great weekend, congrats to all that competed, there was some great racing going on.

Ha, you noticed the curb hopping? That's because he couldn't get the pig to turn! You should see him at RA turn 3, a crew chief's nightmare. Two wheels up is our low drag setup...

    Great photo's BTW.

I thought Grayson's best time was 1:38 and some change. 1:37 is probably safe. (for now)

Barring incident, 1:39 is very likely.

Keith, EP has crossed my mind. I have 2 sets of coil-overs & struts(bilsteins) for
my car, and an array of springs. If I can sell off some stuff, I'll just might be wanting those RR shocks before they get installed in your street car.

You should see some Honda drivers at turn 3 at Road Atlanta. All 4 wheels across the curb and nothing but air under the wheels.
I know one who needed to put his web address
on the undercarriage of his car, besides having a banner here on improved touring.

    Tom,

If you really want to go EP racing you should talk to Kemp about the 240Z. Very reasonably priced and cheaper than a Bimmerworld ITS car Not as pretty though...

Yeah, I noticed the curb crossing. Not on Saturday, as I started from the back of the grid. The dust was cleared long before I got there. I heard about it Saturday night at the social from the corner workers at that station. They said it was called in to the stewards. Apparantly they did nothing about it becuase I was watching from that corner on Sunday while my brother raced the car. Chet was 10 for 10 laps across the dirt! Don't get me wrong, I'm not complainin'. As a matter of fact if shortcuts are allowed I think I'll change my setup to emulate. If I raise my ride height and bolt on some Dirt Stockers so that I can turn right at the end of the uphill esses to rejoin 2/3rds of the way down the back straight I might shave about 10 seconds a lap. That would put me door to door with Chet at the checkers!
Seriously, I'm happy for you guys. It's a beautiful, fast car with an awsome driver. I just thought he was pushing the envelope. ( I think I just answered my own question about how to get THAT FAST)

    Bob,

I already have a 'z'. Just need to upgrade.
Kemp and Grayson are who I'm worried about in EP. Tough to beat Grayson. Unless you hit him with a miata.
