    Default Garage Finally Done

For those who know me......I have chatted with many of you about the epic struggle of building my own garage, and why I took last year off from racing (and an unplanned current year off)....so I wanted to show you the finished product.

I posted some floor finishing details in the Epoxy Floor covering thread in General IT Discussions.

Also seen in the photos is the flipped racecar and the new shell, waiting for the transplant of parts.

    Very Nice!
Can you come build one at my house? I'll supply the materials and all the food and beverages you need.
    Enjoy the new workspace.

    Alan-

Nice looking shop!!! I wish we had a lift.

Also how many friggen tires do you have, that is more than we have for 3 cars!!! I also wish that we could keep all of them inside like you. Some of ours didn't stand up to the winter weather last year.

Awesome garage Alan! That's it I am taking next year off! I can't race against profesionals with huge garagas like that!

I currently am working in the rain outside with our 10 year old tarp over me!

Will we see you at all this year?

How about the ARRC.... I still haven't decided if I am doing the enduro this year... no co driver as of this minute.

    Alan,
The place looks great!!!!! Last time I was there it was just a HUGE mud pit.
    Good Job.
Now I think I would like to recruit you to help me with (design, building, painting…) my garage when I get back.
Are some of those tires mine??? Or do we still have some of yours???

    Anyway the place looks GREAT

Wow, looks like Flatout Racing Rentals is no longer in need of a new headquarters building. Alan, how soon can you get the damn VW out of there?

Thanks for all the compliments...building something like this has always been my dream (even before racing).

Matt-Hope all is well....but, those are all my tires Yes the mud pit...I will see if Andy will post some more pics.

Raymond-I bought enough for the season, and then I did not really complete that first lap so well, so I have plenty of rubber for next year

Jake-Heat....I knew I forgot soemthing...during construction, I used a "salamander" (sic) heater..worked great. For this first winter, I will continue to use that. The garage is fully insulated, so it really heats up in there. Next year, I may go to a "high boy" oil burner.

Jack-Thanks for all the help and please let me know if I can return the assistance in any way.

Stephen-Big garage does not equal good driver...Big garage equals ability to fix bad driving error. With how well you are doing, I may knock it down and string up a tarp. After these two years off, I have a lot of work to do to re-gain my mid-pack status...

Because we like Alan so much (yeah right ), lets help Alan make a better garage...

Here are a few mistakes that maybe we can offer good advice to (IE: Good deals to fix the problem):

    1. No Beverage cooler (someone in IT land must be replacing a fridge someplace)

    2. No heat/AC (someone in IT land must have a good deal to offer Alan)

    3. It houses VW's (Can't we get him into an Audi yet?)

Wow, I knew the racing community was a bunch of lushes, but geez...truth be known I had a full size fridge in there, but gave it away due to not wanting to pay ~$20 a month to power it.

And Raymond...I will admit I turned to Audi for daily driving...so you can stop making fun of me. I sold my Nissan and bought a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T 6spd manual...GIAC chip installed, Bilsteins, Eibach, 235/50/17 Kumho's on Ronals...I love her

Audi? Thought Honda was the car to have!

What about the flat screen to watch Speed Vision while working on the car?

Guess a full cooler will have to do for now then, hugh?

Our ITB VW friends in the northeast seem to always find stickers that say "Farfromaudi"
