Well, since I parked the car after three laps, I got to see an exciting ITA race while huddled under an umbrella during the deluge. Jake G(lateapex911) did a fantastic job holding off two FWD ITC cars for the overall win. Congrats Jake. Check this out, RX-7 sweep 1st(Jake G), 2nd(Mike L), and 3rd (Dave F), aka flowershop Dave for ITA. Great job guys. But that's not all. The day before, Lou I. and Mike M. piloted Lou's RX-7(my x car ) for the ITA win in the enduro. That was an awesome win. Most folks did'nt realize that with only four or so laps to go the car was out of fuel. The second place car of Richie Hunter was four or five laps behind so when Mike pulled into the pits, we made sure he stopped before the finish line, told him to sit there until the checkered flag then cross the line in the pit lane. Great strategy. OH MY GOD!!! RX-7 sweep for the weekend
B Weaver- Nice meeting you and the crew.
J Sheppard- According to the results, you got beat by Serra....and he wasn't even there

Great job Jake and congrats on your first win, and great job for the others in the RX7 stable, I guess the quest to get moved to ITB has been offically ruined by Jake!

jake's drive was amazing. dave f and mike l put on a pretty good show as well. first narrc win for a rx7 in about 5 years. watching vw's and hon-duhs trying to race in the rain with their I beam front springs was pretty funny. like watching a body builder trying to scratch a itch on there shoulder.
I guess you are right the rx7 are competitive, all you need is a monsoon and a full moon.

Great race, Jake. That was awesome to watch. Amazing that it wasn't even close for the ITA win!

No, I got to get my car running, seems Jake is the new contender!

Jake - Only saw the last lap of the race but heard most of your lap times for the ER Care Center, from F&C. Congrats again to Jake! Hoping to find out today that I'm joining you all for Cheap Date.

It was Ray's strategy and all the help in the pits from Dave F. and Kim and a long drive for Mike that got the win for us.Thanks for all the help you guys.
    What a weekend!
Way to go Jake great run!

I guess the folks in timing know how quick he is!

...you gonna take stuff like that Jeremy?

(It pained me to see your car up on stands, killing the battery...any solution yet?)

Thanks for the kind words guys....if you visited the other thread here you know I have already sent my check to the US Air Force, with the notation: "for rain cloud seeding, Concord NH, 2nd weekend in Sept".

    Dick..you forgot to mention hail...

That was by far the most bizarre (and fun) race I've run.

As wins don't come often (read: like..ever!)I would love to get any and all vids and pictures that might include the old RX-7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(oh, and regarding the RX-7 NOT moving to B, should we also write and ask for reclassification of the ITC Escort to A??)

Ray it was nice meeting you had a great time! That was truly an interested race Jake was flying that was for sure and RX7's in the top 3 in ITA you don't see that very often anymore!!

I just realized something as far as I can tell there was a similiar case in 1999 at Poconos during the ITA/ITC race. Fred Fox in a RX7 won with 2 ITC finishing behind him.

    Jake-

You are out of luck with that check... it might not do you any good. I was in Concord on sunday for a wedding while all of you enjoyed my favorite race (rain). The sun was out the whole time, but you could see those dark clouds lingering over the track and we could hear some thunder once in a while!!!

See Ray, it's more complicated than that! Seed 'em over Concord, they float east a bit, and dump over NHIS! How hard could that be???

PS...ask your bro how he liked the "rain" in the ITS/ITB group! It sure LOOKED like it was going to pour on him...but it didn't.

I'll try to post a picture of what Dirt stockers look like after 16 laps in the dry out of a 22 lap race! I actually had to use the brakes in the oval because the tires are that slick. I had zero tire rub and I could still smell melting tires. It was my first DNF in over 3 years! The tires where brand new never even been on the car until the race and they are completly gone after 16 laps. However it was pretty cool being able to stick your finger completly into the rubber after I came in. A good learning experience for me. I always wondered if thye would at least be good for 1 quick lap..... nope they suck in the dry no matter what

    Jake,

    Didn't you tape the race?

Any chance we get to see your fast laps inthe rain?

I did tape the race. Sadly the tape ran out before the checker. I wish the ITC guys had a tape! (I need to watch the replay to be sure I actually won! )

I would be happy to convert my DV tape to a web format, but am not aware if i have appropriate software. Then there is the problem of hosting. My &%&(^^ cable provider doesn't provide hosting space that I am aware of. Any web brainiacs out there want to tell me how? Or help with hosting?

That said, the first few laps were pretty much nothing but the inside of the car! After I got the lead, it was pretty boring! (from a viewers perspective)

There were a few major 90 plus degree steering corrections, but no wild spins or such for excitement.

This year, yes I will take that abuse.

No fix yet. Still working on it. Looks like I am out of Cheap Date weekend as well.

don't fret Jake. I, being the super duper guy I am, planned ahead to have a friend shoot the weekend. He got some, ahem... pissah shots during the monsoon. I'm waiting on a DVD full of them to get up in the gallery.
I'll be up to my usual trix this weekend in the paddock ;-)
