E-mail me offline before you get to the racetrack with that car.... I would hate to have you beat me and get off on the wrong foot for the rest of the season

I look forward to racing with you and hopefully we can stay up with that pesky volvo and the new A3's! I am going to be doing lot's of bondo work today to make it look a little less wrinkly. I was told that my car needed a face lift... I guess it's starting to show it's age. I put on 2 new fenders a hood and a new door yesterday. I still have to weld in new rear quarter panels and then get it painted! Oh-ya of course it starts snowing again!

It'll be great to see the red and blue cars doing battle.

    Stephen,

Maybe I should have said this:

It will be good to see the red Audi less than twice per race - hopefully never!

Each of the last few races I was right on that awesome ITB battle at the checkered with little pressure from behind in 3rd place. No need to try and squeeze through there under those conditions - especially considering that Volvo can open me up like a tuna can!

    Can't wait.......

Just got my new ride back from the paint shop - came out killer! (they removed all the paint they got on the JRZ shocks) I'll be testing on 3/22 as long as the friggin snow goes away. The car is fully stickered up and race ready.

Dying for the pavement to warm up!

    Cheers,

    3/22 at Lime Rock?
If so, we will have at least two of our cars there for 3/22 and 3/23...assuming all of the snow has melted.

What run group will you be in?

yea, the "spoiler" 240sx is almost finished. i think we're somewhere around the $3500-$4000 spent on the car so far!!!

oh how much did you guys spend on your cars this winter????

expecting to test during the summit national weekend while we're down there with our RSX's in SSB.

with regards to the blue rx7, we have done nothing. we will simply prep and wash it for this year (just like the past 4 years) and continue with its sucess.

that is of course, unless someone is willing to step up to the plate and purchase the car. if interested, 570 288 9999 x 3.

    Andy and Stephen...

neither of you will see me at all

Andy you better be out with those BMW's and Nick.

Stephen... I hope you like the sound of the 5cyl motoring past...

PS: Andy on a second note... Thanks for letting the front running ITB guys battle it out. I find it hard sometimes to resist the battle.

    Jeff L-

If you bought Tom's car, does that mean he will be out in the ITE car!!!

    Tim M.-

Whats the status on the new car??? Did you sell your old one???

    Mather family-

Will you be out this year???

    Stephen, Raymond, and ITB'ers,
yes, I did sell the old wacing wabbit! It was good for me, served its purpose well and it's going to a "good home" - a newcomer to racing and hopefully another new SCCA member.

I, too, am one of those nuts in the middle of building a new A3, and so far so good. The engine is almost ready to go back in the car, exhaust is almost ready, tranny is done, suspension is done. I hope to make it to Shine's Tech day, and then get at least one day at NHIS before the first race. That's a big hope, though! These things always take longer, more time, and a lot more $$$ than originally planned!! I sure hope that this was a good idea - I probably should have waited a year to see how these new A3's work out - if they're no faster than the A2's, well, I don't even want to think about it!!

This should be an interesting year - I absolutely know how my engine was put together (all legal and to the "limit"), so I wonder if I'll see any of these new A3's "whistling" by me like an ITS car, as I used to see a couple of Rabbits at LRP and Pocono?? We'll see??

Man, the itch on the top of my mouth, like a kid before Christmas, is killing me!! Is it April yet???

see you all in a few weeks!

    Tim-

You were fast enough last year !!!

Anyway I think that you should plan on running the ARRC this year at Road Atlanta... people are already talking about it and I think that you would find it to be a fun race. You are deffinatly fast enough with the old car so I think that with this car you would certainly be a contender... We went on used tires, motor, suspension, very tired car, etc. and no experience at the track and had a blast. This year the Northeast should teach all the southerners how to race (Ok they already know, but that just makes it more fun).

    Hi Rob,

I'll be red or black probably. I'm going to instruct and see which is the best group. I'm concerned that my car will be too loud for the 89 db limit. Might see me with a muffler sticking 2 feet off the bumper.

Are you doing anything for sound reduction? Let's get some practice runs on each other and see how the cars stack up.

    Cheers,

We use Supertrapp baffles to limit the sound, although, last year we were black flagged almost every session.

Jeff and I both run in the instructor group and Stewart might be in advanced or instructor if we can get his car back together in time.

Look for us up there - we can try to grid together for some bumnper to bumper lapping.

    Raymond;

The AARC does sound like a blast! I have read many of the posts regarding the race, the camraderie, even the adventure of getting there and back! Last year I was not in a position to go due to scheduling conflicts. Do you know when it's going to be run in 2004 - precise dates?? That way, I can put it on my calendar in the proper "racing first" priority - rather than having stupid business stuff get in the way.

As for "fast enough" last year - well, that silly checkered flag (which I have yet to see FIRST in my car) is still beckoning to me and I figure I'm gonna give it my best shot with this new A3. The jury is certainly out, but the numbers look decent. Then, of course, there are a certain number of Audi's, Volvo's and others (don't forget that Opel GT or crazy Nat in his Saab, too!)that have a certain hankering for that checkered - so we will have to see what the A3 has on the track??

Hi John - the 89 db limit is for the SCDA lapping event, not the SCCA races.

Rob - I'll grid with you guys and we can really get a warm up for NHIS. I also heard a certain top ISC competitor may very well be back this year....

    Cheers,

Hmmm. Sounds like fun. I'm going to try out my street car this year on the 23rd- the race car still has a fuel issue. Too bad the car is getting a bit old for SSC...it's a 2000. Any ITA or ITB people going there? Won't be able to keep up with the ITS people...

Hey mid to front pack ITS guys....this is going to be a great chance for many of you!

As Bettencourt pointed out, there are 10 or so cars within less than a second of each other at both tracks...if they are all fighting it out, they will not be clicking off those fast laps.

ITS has my pre-season vote as the "Race to Watch"....ITA in second, followed closely by ITB (depends on who shows for A and
