Several pro drivers who run the LONG enduro's have told me that they do a fair bit of Pilates for core body strenghting, and LOTS of flexibility work. That stuff, running, biking, and upper body strength/endurance stuff is what keeps me happy in the car for 3 hours in August.

I absolutely work out to improve my competitive chances. I do the body for life deal - high intensity weight training (it's not doing much for you unless you can't do one more rep). I also do extensive stretching and running. I always stretch, but alternate the weights and running. Five days a week baby - three hour enduro - no problem. Being in shape will make a big difference in confidence also.

I also have an off road go-cart that I hammer on to get the hands and forearms tuned up. It's a great way to tune up before a race weekend and you can drive it as hard as possible - can't do that on the street (legally :-).

    Cheers,

I swim nearly every day, and do the occasional meet as well. Actually I will miss the April event as it's a direct conflict with the Masters Swimming National Championships in FL, bummer!

I did the enduro last August, and I was tired for sure, but my neck was the sore spot for days after. 3+ hours of holding the old skull bucket up was quite enough, thankyou!

Rays diet is high in carbs (beer) and vitamin C ..... (the limes)

He thinks it's balanced, so let's not give him any ideas about how he can remove the ballast, eh? He's fast enough as it is...

Now I finally see the light! More 12 oz curls, followed by some 16 ozers.

Damn, now I'm feeling fast! Some burritos and I'll be able to cook up my own legal nitro!

GCR Rule 17.4.1-Permitted fuel is herein defined as gasoline. Gasoline is a mixture of refined hydrocarbons... NOT CARBOHYDRATES. Hmmm! Am I sensing rules creep?

JC- My idea of a balanced diet is a 12oz beer in one hand and a 12oz New York strip in the other.... but all joking aside, for the non gym types, a brisk walk each day (at least an hour) will greatly help to reduce winter ballast.

Hey, Miller Lite only has 3.2 grams of carbs. And it is a grain, so it can't be all that bad.

Does it count that my computer is in our gym? So, techanically I go to the gym quite often. Yeah, its gotta count!

Hey! When you do 16oz'ers, now you're moving up into prime rib territory.

I learned today that you can lose up to 1.5grams of fat with one 12oz curl, depending on how much effort you put into it.
