Default nascar track proposal in CT

Did anyone see the news story of the 140,000 seat nascar track proposal in North Stonington?

I wish him luck, but obviously he has miles to go.

On the positive side, I'm sure NASCAR would kill for a venue so close to NYC.

On the negative side, I don't know much about North Stonington, but it's close to the coast. That would indicate that there must be some money nearby. And where race tracks are concerned, wealthy neighbors + socialist Northeast state government = snowball's chance.

Reminds me of the "indoor" NASCAR oval in Pittsburgh.

Has anyone from SCCA had contact with them? If they are able to get it through, it would be great to incorporate a road course similar to NHIS. Yeah, I know it is a long shot but why not take a shot?

Money - it's between the two casino's. I believe the article said current zoning doesn't permit tracks. I find it odd that someone would try and gather up so much land, unless he hasn't really bought much of the 400 acres? North Stonington is not cheap. Nothing in this damn state is cheap anymore!

140,000 seats is larger than NHIS isn't it? The image they showed on the news was an oval only but I do wonder if our new track board had or will try to jump on board.

NER should santion the Waterford Speedbowl. I doubt anything will be built in Stonington, the access to that area is even worse than NHIS (two lane roads)
