Default Dang - is this legal?

Saw this ad. Anything seem sort of questionable?

Man, looking at the ads on the site (BMW last week) I am starting to thing just about every IT car has something that is not legal.

What I find amusing is that the illegal cars rarely run at the front.

Except for the one that had numerous race wins and tropies, as well as a track record when we opened the motor up and found some good ole cheater pistons.....

Interstingly, the protest steward never inquired as to the history of the engine, so all the wins and trophies and track record set a few weeks previously stood, with the only penalty being the DQ for the event, and the monetary loss for the teardown, which he performed himself.

Thankfully, the track record was reset that same teardown day by another car, so we don't have a known illegal car holding an ITA track record at Lime Rock.

Sadly, I doubt he is the only one whao has prosepered from cheating....

When people actually put in writing that their car is illegal (as in this case), it typically means they either don't understand the rules or haven't bothered to read them. As mentioned above, you'll rarely find these folks anywhere near the front.

And I'm pretty sure that flywheel only weighs about 16lbs in the first place, so cutting 10lbs off of it can't possibly be safe.

People never cease to amaze me... I bet if you asked about the "modified throttle body" and the flywheel, the person wouldn't even flinch.

FWIW...if memory serves (and it usually doesn't) The stock flywheel on my 90 CRX Si STREET CAR weighed in at 19 lbs., I had 5 lbs. removed and wouldn't want to risk taking any more off.
