Yes, if the alum is .060 thick & securely attached to the door.

    "remove passenger door" != "gutting"

    (that means 'not equal to')

To be clear, you can remove the panel but there is no allowance to cut anything out.

Kirk, only two people posted. Are you screwed up or trying to screw up the two previous posters ? No one said anything about gutting the friken door.

I'm not sure about Kirk being right.

When I took Math 452 (Mathmatical Logic), not equal to was written "<>" rather than "!="

Jake, did ya ever read the title of a book & find the story was different than the title. His friken question point blank is, "can you remove the passenger side door panel and replace with aluminum sheet". Answer the question, not the title.

Kirk, if you have something to say use words.

I sometimes don't know if you are "having fun" or not, David but will assume that you are for the sake of this conversation...

I was a junior high school teacher and since then, studied in an education PhD program with some people who were very clever about the sociological implications of policy - particularly the role of symbolism and language as it relates to issues, positions, and power.

When a kid would ask me, "Is it OK if I...?" my experience - often painfully gained - taught me to address the issues underlying the question or answer the question that was implicit in the words being chosen for my consumption.

My more recent work only reinforces my belief that we choose language purposefully so you can expect me to think that title was NOT incidental: It matters to the discussion.

If the real issue at hand was the part of the interior that can be replaced by .060 aluminum, why choose the word "gutting" in the title? It might be that RR's use of the term is conconsistent with commonly held definition of the term but if this is NOT the case, and someone here answers "yes," that might well be taken as inaccurate advice that it is acceptable to cut metal in the door structure.

What does "door panel" mean in the question in the body of the post? Just the door "card?" The inside surface of the structure? Something else? We don't know and before anyone points out that my question is both pedantic AND semantic pick and read ANY question about rules from this forum: They are ALL about semantics.

Bill, it's lunch hour so relax & have a beer.

Skipping all the small talk. The title is the overall topic. The sentence is the specific question RR was asking. Look in the GCR glossary if you don't know the defination of a door panel. Many times people exploit a subject for their personal benefit which is .

...and your complaints suggest that you believe I am reaping some "personal benefit" here.

What is it again, beyond the expectation that when I have a question for this forum someone will take the time to think about and answer it, too?

Grassy knoll 'conspiracy theorists' and 'evil conflict of interest crusaders' on the Prod boards have poisoned minds, and the infection has spread to other boards.

Sudden rush for seats in the arena. Will it be pistols at 20 paces or keyboards at DSL speeds ?

Why don't people ever go for the old fashioned mace? Or how about a Joust! I can see it now, 2 IT cars on a drag strip aimed at one another, each "knight" holding a jousting pole out the driver's side window. The fair maiden drops her handkerchief and both cars charge toward one another. Upon contact, one car is knocked toward the outside wall while the other continues virtually unharmed. The knight of the first vehicle recovers without hitting anything, both "knights" get new jousting lances, and they are off again...

Yeah, it's Friday, can you tell?

Since Kirk was a teacher in a (I guess) public school, why not cafeteria biscuts at 20 paces.

    You'll lose!

Kirk is young, thin, (tough to hit) in good shape, and a guy who will probably calculate the ricochet off the water fountain to bean you in the back of your head when you least expect it!

PS, he has a good point about "gutting", and a little clarification is often a good thing.

While Kirk is 10+ pounds thinner than he was when he met Jake, at 42 he's sure as hell not going to claim "young."

We have a winner!! The stupidest argument in a thread!!

    "Subject: Gutting passenger door"

D: "No one said anything about gutting the friken door."

Kirk - you should know better than to clarify an answer. How dare you.
That reminds me of another question I had about removing the windshield washer bottle: Can I drain the washer fluid?

    <---- ducking and covering.

OK - I guess we learned 2 things tonight boys: Kirk has too much time on his hands, and David isn't all about having fun - he's looking for an argument. Me - I guess I have too much time on my hands and am looking for an argument because I think it's fun? Naaaah.... I just need to get some sleep. Baby is crying and tech inspection is tomorrow.

    Have fun,
    Jake
