Default My Cage, your opinions ....

I am running local club racing ICSCC Production class, they call for SCCA IT roll bar rules .. So Let me know what you think .. I have some bracing to do and gussets to add, but before I do the final welding I am looking for some opinions , legality, safety, etc. esp. on my door bars , the main hoop and main cage section are autopower , slighly modified mounting locations , and the door bars are mine ...

    Shawn,

Cutting the rockers is not legal. ICSCC will withhold approval as is. Now that you have done it, I will tell you how to hide it.

Fabricate plates up and over the rocker wrapping around the tube or cut the downtube off and slip the plates under the end of the tube.

You would be wise to add the anti intrusion bars extending forward from the A-Pillar bars to the footwell and a dash bar below the steering column (make sure it is not a knee knocker).

The rest of the cage appears to be adequate.

Shawn, I would be happy to come take a look at the cage and the car in person if you need help making sure everything meets the rules.

    Shawn,

Take Joe up on the offer. He knows the rules and will guide you well.

I plan on completely enclosing the rockers , make it look as if the bar is part of it .. It will be fully braced ..I am also gona add a brace from the main hoop that goes from the bar to the side of the car , that will be also welded to the floor plate, just for some extra protection ... Hey Joe, I have tried calling you , and left you a message at least once , whats the easyest way to get ahold of you .. I wanted to talk to you a little about a couple things ...And It would be very helpfull if you could come and see it .. Either at my house in Milwaukie or at my work in N. Portland .. whatever works for you ..

Have Joe help you get the caged completed and come up to Pacific Raceways on March 14th and we can inspect the cage. The stamps and logbooks will available that weekend.

Shawn, I will be at the shop all day tomorrow. 503 650-9548.. I get to Dan Halls at least twice a month. Seeing the car at Gerbrock or your place would be fine.

Hey Shawn, I looked at your site. Cool to see someone racing a 98 SE. I saw your photo of Mike Kojima's "Dog Car." Do you know Mike? He's a close friend of mine.

Who is your brother? Is he on G20.net? I'm still a moderator there even though my turbo G20 was totalled a year ago (I got creamed by someone exiting the freeway). If your brother saw the SR20DET swap article in Sport Compact Car, I wrote that article.
