Default Removing cats for OBD2 cars?

What are your experiences with removing the cats on the OBD2 cars? Won't the downstream O2 sensor throw a fit without the cat, and put the engine into some sort of limp-in mode?

On my Prelude the ECU checks emissions every 3rd driving cycle. Because I have the backup power fuse to the ECU pulled it resets every time I turn off the car so I never get a CEL.

There is also an emulator available that mimicks the operation of a rear O2 sensor. I can find out more if desired.
