Thanks for bringing it back.. would have been a terrible shame to lose it.
Really nice to have this back, thanks for your time and effort!!
I need a spring cap for a front coil over set up - Tokico race shock under a welded in camber plate. For some reason the inside ring of the cap (which fits inside the coil spring) is all chipped and...
Thanks - yes I meant the valve/head assembly. I assume you would see sharp angles/edges versus a rounded slope on the topside valve edge? anything else to look for? thanks
If a cylinder head had a 3 or 5 angle valve cut can you tell by looking? is it physically apparent? thanks
Mgyip - I would be interested in the Febi hubs and bearings, shoot me a note, thanks
Just curious, does anyone re-use their hubs when you change your wheel bearings? I always change mine but must admit, the ones I take off always look like new. thanks
I was able to salvage the head - a bent exhaust valve was all. The block and crank were ruined and I removed and cleaned everything else. Not sure why it happened but it was a mess in there.. thanks
Here it is the dead of winter and I am so bored I am going through donor parts I have as spares.. I don't have a sandblaster (although it would be so fun to have one!!) and was wondering what is a...
I received a Snap On 18v impact wrench as a gift and use it all the time!! it makes short work of quite a few jobs.. surprising how quick it breaks crank bolts free!!
Yes he still around, still building engines. His phone is: 847-395-4244 in Antioch, IL. My neighbor who works for Snap On talks to him often. Let me know if you need more.
My car has a self adjusting clutch cable.. I have no idea how it works but I know it can collapse somehow and then adjust itself. How do you work those things? thanks
What is the ACR suspension package? I see that reference often and I am curious what the upgrade was versus the stock suspension. thanks
You are right, the last 3 turns were right hand turns and I stopped in the pits quickly for the temps.. he did the drivers front then the pass front.
I have used these camber settings for a couple years without issue. The tires roll over on the shoulder on the drivers side but not as much on the passenger side so I think I will take some camber...
Last race out I finally got some tire temps - first in a while.
Car: ITB Scirocco
Tires: Kumho V710 - 205/55 -14
Toe 1/8" out
Drivers side camber: 3 1/8
Pass side camber: 2 1/8
I was constantly running too hot, especially in 90 degree July weather!! I ended up shrouding the radiator (most important), gutted a thermostat to make a restrictor, blocked the water pump bypass...
The strut tubes aren't side specific - the front a-arm bolt should tighten all the way in and they should have a good size washer on them. good luck
I am towing with a Ford Sport Trac - it didn't have the towing package from the factory but the previous owner installed an OE class III hitch and factory 4 plug connector. The trailer has a 4 plug...
Hi, I just got a new 16" trailer and am trying to sort out a couple things. They both involve wiring which is not my strong suit!!
First, it has a flat 4 plug and only the drivers side stop...
Boy I am kind of diggin this thread.. keep in mind whatever goes for the MK1 GTI also goes for the MK1 Scirocco!!
I am bummed I can't make that race.. will have to wait till June to get started. Have fun!!
I just got another car that has an exhaust temp gauge in it. The thermocouple is in the #1 header tube.
I have no idea what exhaust temps should be for a 8v, 1.8L - is there a baseline I should...
I use a Wright device (category: other) until the dust settles on all the issues.
Greg, thanks for the insight!! what a progression.
I have been towing with a dolly for 10 yrs now.. First out of necessity (all I could afford!) and recently for convenience - really don't have...
