Signed up. Its a good idea.
There's really nothing on the web site yet - just the Mentor Program sign-up. That's probably OK for folks who know Dave, for those of us who don't I kinda wonder what's up. So, what's up with the...
Suspend the steel weights inside a brick of lead: Make a mold and, using welding wire, hold the steel bits in the center of the mold. Melt the lead and pour it in. When it hardens you've got a...
Andy, Jake, Kirk and Scott - thank you for all your efforts on our behalf.
I talked with a couple plasma spray companies and it can be done for about $175 per drum (shipping, core charges, etc. would be extra) in a quantity of 50. The existing steel surface needs to be...
Wonderful! Thanks!
OK, cage GCR changes got me again. GCR weight (with the assumed SCCA driver) not actual vehicle weight with or without driver.
Weight without driver (vehicle weight).
Its more of a family thing in those situations. Sometimes its wives and husbands, sometimes its fathers and sons, sometimes its mothers and daughters. In more then few cases the person driving in...
Its not the one reason but it does contribute something to competitor's choices to build different cars or run with a different sanctioning body.
Nice.
Me too. I've built five IT level...
I guess since IT is a "regional" class we can go our own way with the rules... Oh wait, IT is a Regional class with a National rule set. So what's good for the SE region is good for the SoPac...
I don't have the national data. I should have qualified my "IT is dying." statement to the region I'm most familiar with - Cal Club. I know of 3 wheel-to-wheel race cars being built from the ground...
Although by no means scientific, I think the drop in IT participation in Cal Club is more a result of drivers moving to dual use cars. We see a number of SM/ITA Miatas, Spec and Pro RX7s, ITR/ITE...
Makes things a lot easier in tech... :-)
I'm not advocating elimination of the ruleset. What I am advocating is a ruleset that can be changed via member input and a willingness to review a 30...
Why not? What's wrong with improving the car and making it more dependable? Why is that a negative in regards Improved Touring?
The rule set is not sacrosanct. Its not a religious document. ...
Two of the coolers on an IT car are already open - radiator and oil cooler. Anyone see any large scale escalation in running costs or a few class Goliaths are a result?
Seems that most...
Koni inserts (8610/11) depend on a tight clamping of the upper bearing/seal by the gland packing nut. If that nut gets loose the upper bearing /seal will fail quickly. If the gland nut gets loose...
The 2009 hard copy GCR I have does not specify in the the rule text a single forward tube. I also looked through the FastTracks up through July 2009 and there were no revisions that I found.
...
Incorrect. Figure 16 on page 149 shows one tube but none of the wording in 9.4.2 for a Showroom Stock cage or in 9.4.3 for a Touring cage mentions one tube. I would allow a V forward brace if the...
That would work. Be sure to bottom the front hoop in the sleeve against the main hoop and weld completely around where the sleeve overlaps the front hoop.
Traditionally the front roll hoops or the halo bar have all been bent from one piece of tubing with a welded in cage. There's nothing in the GCR that would preclude welding the bolted front hoop...
That's pretty cool!
HT10s are going away from what I understand. Replaced by DTC60/70. Porterfield can make pretty much any pad shape out of any pad material they sell. I've run the DTC70s on my 350Z and they are...
IMHO, if the bracket is bolted in place, it can be removed. if the bracket is welded to the unibody/chassis then it has to stay. The exceptions to this are listed in the GCR as mentioned above.
