Deb,
An urelated question. I occasionally thrash my 525 a bit on the road, is the 5 series also subject to this structural weakness?
Thanks - Jeff
Looks like a fun unit if one wants to start from scratch and play, and play, and .......
There's an awful lot of things to worry about when designing and ECU, even if its only required to function...
Welcome to ITS!! At least Rich W. will have another RX7 to play with next year, If I sell my car. If I don't, I suspect I'll see you at some point!

I think the restrictor is a great call by the ITAC!! The E36's I've seen can already be hard on tires and brakes. The issue was primarily power related. We'll see how it turns out.
I assume the...
E36 gets restrictor plate
Jake is right, with current electronics it would not be difficult to have a detune switch somewhere in the cockpit. These can easily be concealed by using an existing switch or rheostat.
Darin - Thanks for all the clarifications. Is 2005 done, or can more adjustments be implemented?
Holding up a single race as THE data point is futile, even if it is the ARRC. It seems clear from any number of anecdotal descriptions that a fully built E36 motor can pull the same built RX7 by many...
Yup, 15+ car lengths at Road America straights 1 and 2 by an E36 with a bimmerworld motor.
It's like running with slow AS and GT 3+ cars that can blow by in the straights.
I read a great description recently that echos my own sense of what constitutes "racing room". See for yourself if you agree:

E36 gets 175 , or 100 + restrictor
RX7 gets 70 lbs
Darin, Thanks for the info. It looks like a fine start, although I'd expected to see some ITA and ITS leveling weight adjustments. I guess there will always be more to come.
Thanks to the ITAC for...
Will any additional adjustments be made for 05 that are yet to be published?
I would use either suspension mounting bolts, flanges, structure, which ever looks good, or chassis straightness location points, sometimes shown in a factory shop manual. Get the chassis level on a...
Wheel fans are legal.
Marty, back to the issue, as Karl noted, if you are so lean you are loosing power, something is probably not right. Once you get this fixed, you will find that leaning the top end a bit will add...
That's what we get when there is no practical way to police a "stock" ECU rule. While many cars can be chipped, our’s cannot, hence the resulting open ECU rule. It's not desirable, but it is fair.
I thought both 2G EFI systems ran to rich at high rpm and had to be leaned for power. If you really are to lean, look for any fuel system related problems that would show up as a flow restriction...
No doubt about it that a full shop alignment rig is the best. The problem with strings or spindle-coupled lasers is knowing where the wheels are relative to where they are supposed to be. I've played...
The front is easier because the primary issue is only the difference between the two sides. If one side is 0 and the other is 1/4" in, its the same as 1/8" in on both sides, since turning the...
The distance to angle conversion is tire diameter multiplied by the sin of the angle. Since angular toe is traditionally reported as the total of both sides, the result will be total toe, or half at...
And if we can keep this run of weather going, what more could we ask for!
MC also has a long race at BFR near the end of Oct. - 50 laps. Just long enough for everyone to make on a single tank.
...
Bob - Any idea when the outcome of all the hard work you and the ITAC will be offical?
May also make it to BFR, although S gets to play with the GT1 group.
The rumble strips at RA can contribute as well if you run them. 6 and 7 both have significant bumps at track out with no braking for 7.
