you are correct - the front hubs are the achilles (sp?) heel of the A1 style VW's. I change hubs and bearings every season and always before an out of town event so theres no suprises away from...

Kirk, congrats on the win, I was a driver in the silver ITA scirocco 16v. (we broke early and retired) Like a lot of the above posts, i've never seen this failure, either. I change my rear bearings...
