SWEET!
I didn't even know some of that stuff existed for our cars!
A while ago, I heated the stock shifter and bent it to a better angle. I think I messed up the geometry when I did that. Nevertheless, I'll replace the bushing, put in a new shifter, add the engine...
Little white bushing has very little or no play on either the shifter or the hole in the shift rod it fits into.
This is the 3rd transmission, and all had the same problem.
Double entendres are fun.
I have new stock motor mounts and a new transmission mount, but the shifting in the 240sx is still ugly. I've driven many other cars on track and I have never had...
Definitely going...no ride yet.
Will be my third year in a row although last year was rather short (engine went boom).
Suggestions for relatively inexpensive rides welcome :)
Hey Michael,
I just found your post. I checked all around when it was time to do mine and didn't find anyone that was willing to even touch it. Did you have any luck?
I was quoted $800 at one...
Hey Joe, I'll take you meant that with a jabjab, winkwink, nudgenudge, but in case you didn't, I certainly didn't mean to knock (pun intended) your engine building skills. B)
That being said, I...
Without getting into too much detail and stepping on any toes, I can tell you 205 crank HP in a S13 motor is very attainable in fully legal ITS trim.
One just needs to drop the money to the proper...
...coming out of the woodwork...
I have a '92 S13 with KA24DE that I built for ITS. I've had it at quite a few DE's getting it all sorted out, so I can hit the ground running. The car has an...
3/16 with the japanese flare
Jusp look for "3/16 Japanese" on the label
I didn't have heat indicating paint on the rotors, and don't have a IR pyrometer, so I don't know the temps got to...this was mostly a motor break-in session.
The places I was having the most...
I just got back from testing at Sebring where there is a couple really hard braking areas. My setup is ABS front brakes, hawk blues all around, and decent front ducts. My findings are even with a...
Something else I found out is the timing jumps all over the place if the distributor isn't snugged up. If the bolts are loose while checking timing, the timing will not hold in one place. I have to...
Update on the motor saga:
I bought a new timing light and after some messing around, I got the idle to stay where it needs to be and not hunt.
The timing would stay at 20 degrees BTDC then shoot...
I'll take off early from work tomorrow tomorrow and check it out (I have to sort this out...it's killing me)
It's been so long since I had it off...is that a real gasket or a liquid (bluegoo)...
I have a KA24DE that was professionally rebuilt, but not re-dynoed after it grenaded on me a while ago. I have the car completely back together now, but it has some issues.
1) The idle will hunt...
100lbs...150lbs for number 66 :)
How about 26.5
Yes, yes and yes...I have a S13 ITS 240sx and will definitely run in NASA when it ramps up in the SE region.
Tools are pretty straight forward, but DEFINITELY wear a rib vest. The Sparco padded one doesn't cut it either. Get one with hard plastic reinforcements around it (Ribtec, Deep Seat, etc). Especially...
I rolled the front and back fenders as a precaution, and removed all wheel liners (for simplicity).
I have the Canton Mecca remote filter and I like it a lot. It's easy to mount and smaller than others with more engine protection. You'll definitely need an oil cooler too...anything less than a 16...
Great stories!
Oldham sounds like he's really dedicated
My first race was in a go-kart...and was a doozie. I started a bit late in karting at 23 years old or so.
After doing 20+...
If I see that old Nissan air in your new Mazda's tires, I'll protest you...that's a definite performance enhancement http://Forum.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif
