Concerning the 320i. The 77-79 model is heavier, has a 2 liter and a 4 speed tranny. The 80-83 is several hundred pounds lighter, has a 1.8 liter and a 5 speed. As a result, they produce very similar...

I agree with Zracer22. I run a 320 in Club racing and vintage. It ain't cheap! But is a ton of fun. :D

I run an 83 in BMW club Racing. The hp in the earlier models is offset with the weight reduction in the later model. The 80-83 does have an advantage in that it comes with a 5 speed.
