Thanks for the info. I'm surprised no one is making this. For "most" cars (for racing), an underdrive pulley cools as well or better, gives a few HP and adds reliability. Now that...

Hi -
Anyone know of a source for an underdrive (ie smaller than stock) crank nose v-belt pulley to fit my 1588?
Car is in HP, though these are now legal in IT IIRC.
Thanks,
Al Seim
FWIW, I did quite a bit of research on the fwd LSD options and here were my "findings" (based on talking and reading, not testing):
Locked - light and maintenance free (unless welds break), gives...
Slightly off the topic of dinner reservations, but I'd like to invite anyone coming to PRI, interested in data systems, to stop by our (Race Technology USA + Action Digital) booth at 613-615 and see...
My 1.6 Scirocco ITC engine once blew out nearly a full quart of oil in the first track session after sitting over the winter. I thought maybe I had a broken ring, but the problem mysteriously fixed...
Ron:
1. The extra oil capacity from bigger/more filters really isn't usable, as it all has to be there to maintain pressure, and the only thing that will significantly decrease oil temperature is...
We have the DL1 in stock in Richmond VA, $949 + free shipping to anywhere in the continental US. Hey, we're SCCA racers and even sponsors of this forum!
I'm happy to answer any inquiries by email...

I had hoped to be at VIR this weekend myself, but work got in the way so I can't make it. http://ITForum.ImprovedTouring.com/frown.gif
But as Kirk can show you, usable information is only...
With the diaphragm gone, as mine was, you effectively had no surge chamber at all, as the inside of the surge chamber "leaked" straight out the bottom. I discovered this by pouring liquid into the...
Ron:
I'd ask one of the guys from Appalachian Tire, they've pretty much seen it all and ought to be able to give you a starting point for both alignment and pressures. They're very helpful,...
Tom:
You're right, the stock setup works great 'til that diaphragm goes. Mine disintegrated and got sucked up by the pump, ruining the pump. Killed a second pump before figuring it out and...
I have a slightly different take on the nature of the problem, but it still leads to the same solution - a new or rebuilt tank.
The stock tank has a plastic "surge tank" or surge pot located in...
Hey Bill:
How does the weight of the Peloquin compare to the Quaife (020)?
Also, I seem to recall mention that there is a discussion on your website of the various pros and cons, but it didn't...
Daryl:
Off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure that the sample rate for all the data channels is set at once. But having said that, using CompactFlash for data storage means that storage capacity...
Kirk is right, the typical performance of the GPS systems is better than the advertised performance - I guess we need better marketing people!
Having said that, I generally tell people that the...
Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as a metric AN fastener. The AN series of aircraft fasteners are inch sizes not metric.
There presumably is such a thing as European metric aerospace...
Anyone know of a source for readymade underdrive crank pulleys for a VW 1.6?
This is for a Prod engine so it is already legal. (I expect they'll be common in a year!)
Thanks,
Al Seim
I think that there are a lot of factors at work here. I strongly suspect that if Hoosier offered a really low profile 205 it would be the perfect tire for an ITC VW and probably other 13 x 6" cars. ...
I did quite a bit of research on the Net re this topic 6 months ago, and wound up buying a Halon 1301 system. It's pretty innocuous as is, less so when it hits a fire - but much preferable to...
Has anybody ever compared a Tri-Y (4:2:1) header to a 4:1 header on a dyno?
My ITC Scirocco came to me with a Tri-Y. If I was building from scratch I'd use a 4:1, but I've never convinced myself...
Gregg:
Many thanks, once again, for the effort you put into safety education in these forums. (OK purists, fora)
The pictures referred to from this thread are the first I've seen doing a decent...
An update:
First, thanks to Greg Amy and Mark Coffin for their positive words about the DL1 GPS Data System.
Second, I'd like to give an update regarding the DL1 system and software. As David...
At the runoffs this year, the SRFs were required to run one of the track-available race gas types as a "spec gas".
One competitor (and friend) had his qualifying time pulled after a random...
Anybody got a read on the likely impact of the new fuel rule?
If I read the new Fastrack properly, the existing fuel rules are being tossed in favor of a selection of approved fuels. Is this...
Gregg:
As to your original "focus group" question:
Thinking about my own recent race car equipment purchases, I'd say that my own point of "what the heck, it's only $xxx" is probably about $350...
