I am sure the megasquirt will work. The Lugtronic will work and is specifically designed for the VW... it is based upon the megasquirt but customized for VW. If it is an IT build then you can get it...

It is possible to use the stock air flow meter with a system like the megasquirt, lugtronic, or other. This is what the rules look like they were...

"Other existing sensors, excluding the stock air metering device, may be substituted for equivalent units"

The word "excluding" is specific to the MAF.

6. The engine management computer may be altered or replaced. A throttle position sensor and its wiring may be added or replaced. A MAP sensor and its wiring may be added....

Anyone do this in ITB yet? It's basically the Megasquirt for the VW.
Although the rules seem to still require the MAF to be hooked up and functioning.

yes - I ran the new chicane yesterday. It's different... pit out is different when it's in use.
There is only a simple chain link fence between the track and the infield... no protection and no type...

Bill - thanks for the correction/data regarding 16v & 8v. I guess the motors need to be completely swapped.

Here in the NE a 16v is not competitive in ITA no matter how much prep you give it.
I have been racing and building VW's since 1993. We converted a number of 16v's to 8v to compete in ITB where...

Switch it over to a 1.8L 8V..... Then compete in ITB.
It is very competitive there.
Currently, It is not competitive in ITA with the 16 valve.

I think a non sunroof after market replacement roof skin is cheap.
Although.... on average, most non sunroof cars have much less rust on the floor then sunroof cars since the sunroof cars leaked...
