Great information, wow, 4.66 R&P, that would make 4th and 5th useable.
However, the 4 speed with the 3.89 sounds perfect for my purposes, and 15 to 20 lbs less weight on the left front end is a...

Great information, wow, 4.66 R&P, that would make 4th and 5th useable.

Anybody using the 5 speeds on the ITC cars? With the available R&P gear sets of even custom gears, is it even possible to use 5th gear like at Lime Rock?
How useable are the 4 speeds in the ITC...
I just looked up the 2008 NASA CCR up on the NASA website
http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf under 15.17.1
Here is the text
15.17.1 Driving Suits
A driver is required to wear a suit...
I believe the NASA suit requirements are nearly identical to the SCCA requirements, I'll alert them to this thread so they can look into the 1986 FIA issue. NASA has required SFI or FIA compliance...
I believe that one of the items that SFI seems to be specifying in their standards is an expiration from the original date of manufacture.
In regards to seat belts, NASA has gone with SFI's 2...
Bill is giving you his multiple years of experience and you already know I agree. It is a power thing, there just is no way that I know of to get legal competitive horsepower. The GTI handles and...
I own(ed) quite a few ITB cars and still race a GTI which is now modified beyond what is legal in ITB. Anyways, lack of power is what makes it uncompetitive with the top ITB cars. Car handles great...
What would happen to an A1 if it raced w/o a front stayrod between the front suspension mounting points? Would it flex excessively, slowing lap times? Eventually crack from fatigue?
Ron, if you have tested your spark when cranking under the hot no start conditions and verified a normal spark then I don't think the voltage is the problem.
Yes, here is a picture, the rear wheels have been moved out to fill the fenders with a similar wheel spacer.
BTW, love Brit cars, have 3 myself. I just finished restoring a Jensen Healey, used to...
Ron, how is your car's spark when hot cranking with the starter? Some electronic ignitions are sensitive to voltage and hot wires have more resistance to electricity and could cause voltages to...
Jeff, IMO, this design is adequate and well made examples of these types of adapter/spacers will work reasonably well. They won't change the load on your wheel bearings one bit if you order wheels...
I used to race in a Northern California series called GTI Cup which was a spec series. We opened up the specs a bit and allowed sway bar changes and/or limited slips. I went with an open dif,...
Car actually looks pretty good. I raced him years back and his car came off the corners quite well.
In regards to my racing, haven't done much, been out a couple of times with my VW. I'm...
I and one other VW GTI MK1 racer has experienced what you describe and in both of our situations, replacing the ignition coil fixed the high rpm problem.
Have you checked your coil?
I've mixed and matched tires, especially in long enduros when maximum grip and performance wasn't the key factor to win a long race.
I also did it at the last minute before a ITB sprint race where...
I know of a ITB Pinto in San Jose Ca. Oranges - that is the color.
It has been a while since I have been on this site. I tried a couple of times months back and the forum seemed to be hijacked...
Wow, still shocked at the rapid class change. Several weeks ago I was contemplating whether I should run some Pro Sedan events to qualify for the NASA Nationals. Now, the class is retired and...
I race another orphan called a Capri and used to think my motor ran hot. It turned out to be a faulty temp gauge. I used a infrared temp reader which showed my water at only 180F while the gauge...
I just had my first collar come off my axle. Bearing seems fine although it started working its way down the axle. It was my body that must have kept the wheel and axle assembly from coming out of...
I don't think welding the rear axle is technically legal but it should work fine if you are careful when you grind it. Don't dig into the axle and leave nicks which can create stress concentrations....
Too lean is the most likely but it could also be due to timing too retarded. Fuel doesn't all burn in head so it keeps burning in the exhaust.
However, it does sound like you are too lean since...
Lots of great information which mostly correlates with my experiences. I've raced competitively in both a GTI Cup and ITB Capri on Toyos, Kumhos, Hoosier 03s and 04s and Goodyear GSCS tires.
...
I thought about Jason and even tried to call and email him. You know his contact information?
Marcus, you ask who is running the Capri with me. Well, my orignal plan was to only invite current and former Capri racers.
So far
Joe Craven (current PS2/PS3/ITB Capri racer - Capri won enduro...
