Figured I'd get some of the responses you'll see here out of the way. The bars appear to meet the letter of the GCR and weigh about a ton. As long as it doesn't interfere with the stock side-impact beam in the door, you should be good to go.

If the 3 verticals are attached to the rocker box or floor, NO. The cage can only be attached in 8 places: main hoop(2), forward hoops(2), rear braces(2) and footwell(2) (optional)
What if the verticals stop .05mm above the rocker, but are not attached by any means?
Door bars-How about that duel quad tunnel ram under the hood??? What class is this car-just wondering!
Sounds fine to me. We did the same with lifting plates. As long as you can slide a piece of paper under it proving that it's not attached, your golden.Quote:

Oh, remember the stupid IT rule that all tubing must meet the min. size requirement, unlike Production (which looks like where this cage is coming from) which only requires that the required tubes meet min. spec.
{edit} But looking at the pic again, everything looks like it's at least 1.75" so you should be fine.{/edit}

I understand you didn't ask about the main hoop braces but:
If my view of the main hoop braces is correct IMHJ you have strained & tortured the the rule & the rear hoop braces are ILLEGAL. http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif I view the main hoop brace being attached to near top of the main hoop (good http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/smile.gif) & at the lower end of same tube attaching to a second diagonal tube.(not good http://Forums.ImprovedTouring.com/it/frown.gif) Tubes look tacked at this time.
17.1.1.D.11.1.a.4.Main hoops SHALL have TWO (2) braces extending to the rear, attaching to the FRAME or CHASSIS.

If you were to weld a bracket (short & close to the tower)at each front strut tower & connect the towers with a straight tie rod tube might you have a more substantial connection than used in your IT car ?
Its an E Production car David, the rt door bars are of the nascar type as well but there will only be two and nothing to the rocker as this car will have an optional rt seat for HPDS rides and your right, the rear braces arnt done yet. I have yet to pick up the smaller diameter tubing for the rest of the rear bracing/fuel cell mounts. in this next picture you will see how the cage flows from the front shock tower all the way to the rear bumper. I built it that way to better withstand being hit from behind by 3000 pound stock cars that run in EP/SPO classes

LOL love to see what your driving now. what part of "its not finished" eludes you George? what you cant see in that pic is that the lower rear brace is going thru the brace that is welded to the frame over the spring perch, im boxing in with 1/8" plate the rear shock tower and both those tubes down to the frame with the top of the box being level with the connection of the two rear braces so they will both will be attached independently to the frame. the smaller tubing is going to make up an X over top of the fuel cell with a bar straight across between the two boxed in towers.

After some consideration I may move those upper braces outward to the shock hat so as to avoid any controvercy later, there only tacked on so now would be the time. im a firm believer in only tacking a cage until the entire structure is assembled. yet another example of how helpful it can be to put your ideas out to the masses before jumping into it.
I agree it would be wise to move the main hoop braces to the shock tower. The present set-up loads the longer tube and could collapse it.
I would also suggest you revise the long brace to the rear bumper. this bar takes away any crush protection offered by the body. It might leave a better looking car after an impact, but you might be hurt easier.

Daryl, why not move the rear support to the other side side, and attach it to closer to the rear shock tower?
