So yea... I won't be at the test day after all... I had more work than expected this week, which meant less time for the car :/ I'll be rolling sometime tomorrow... Still haven't decided when LOL hopefully whenever Reg opens, 7?

Sunday morning race...came to tire choice...I chose intermediates,
others chose drys....good thing I was able to build up a good gap
at the beginning, because as the track dried up they all got a bunch
faster, and almost caught me...if the race was 1 lap longer...no video (too boring)
Sunday afternoon race....really fun and difficult first couple of laps
in a sandwich between Rob Breault and Mark Gregory....managed a crossover
pass in the bowl....built up a good gap....which I needed, as I blew
half the engine in the middle of the last lap....hobbled up the
hill after the bowl.....car spitting and belching....by the time I got to
turn 11 I was going 30mph....burping, wheezing....didn't know if I'd even make
it to the checker....in the mirrors I see Mark and Rob...closing....fast
and they caught me....one car length AFTER I took the checker!!!!
In impound Rob's Dad (in fun) accused me of being a pompous ass....
finishing the race at 30mph just beause I could...then I started
the (half) engine and let him listen! .... good video of the first
half of the race (then the camcorder battery died):

more good news: Brian Bagnall finally found and fixed the electrical
short that had causing him to cutout and DNF....Paul Mertz and Mark
Gregory back in the mix after a long absence!

Hectic weekend for me!!!! Started out too loud, with too big of a push, low grip overall and really bad gearing for the track... And THEN the radiator sprung a leak!!! :( so we was busy! More to follow when I get to a computer...

It was great to be back at the track, especially seeing all our racing friends. For me it was all about getting the rust off. I haven't driven in a year. The car was pretty good, considering soo much is new, driver wasn't so good. Tires were junk and a slipping clutch didn't help either. Looking forward to finishing some body work and having the car back to true form again. I forgot how much I don't really like NHMS....

Linda Kogan came in 2nd, she ran a good race, congrats to her.
However, on Saturday the car felt a little funny in turn 8 but thought maybe the rear alignmnt was off a bit, causing the back end to come around a little too easy. Well during the Sunday morn race, I could not take right hand turns (good thing NHMS only has 2), car was all over the place, went off in the grass between 10 and 11 about 10 laps in, but just barely managed to finish the race. Couldn't see anything obvious back at the paddock, but knew I couldn't drive the car as is, so loaded it up, and, that's when I noticed the tear in the middle of rear subframe and also the tack welds coming apart on the left connecting the suspension points ! Has anyone seen this on other Integras? So that's it for this year, and will unfortunatley be spending money at some point to make the repairs.

Yup, it's a common problem, also with the Civics/CRX. I assume that you are not running the ASR rear swaybar assembly (or equivalent)?Quote:

I had wondered what was going on there... You car looked like a bigger hand full than mine! I'm glad you were able to avoid contact and further damage to the car. We missed you on Sunday!

The ITA qual race was exciting as I started at back. I was able to make some progress, had a decent race with a couple guys, but I was still giving up alot in the turns. Then with a few laps to go I ended up by myself and the sound guys got me again!!! The temperature had also just spiked a couple times, so I pulled in what turned out to be two laps early...
As soon as I turned the car off I found the cause of the temp spikes, a leaking rad!!! Just a pin hole, but I could hear and then feel the steam pushing out the top corner of the rad! :(
Needless to say, I didn't make the STU race and Saturday night was very busy! We changed the whole rear dif housing to one I'd just purchased and picked up (on the way to the track!). This unit had a 4.1 vs the 4.6 that was in the car. We removed and repaired the rad with some JB weld, (LOL) Undid the front toe change I had made trying to get the car to turn, unhooked the front bar (Mark Gregory made me do it), installed a 90 on the exhuast, readied the "good" tires (rain was likely so we didn't install them), and did all the usual night checks. Oh and we threw on some vinyl that Stephen Blethen had been nice enough to make up on short notice!

Wow... Short but full weekend for me as I was balancing being "dad" and selfish racing fun. Showed on Sunday and was a little nervous to have my first lap a "live" lap... Though I had a blast working through traffic.
I had a major issue with a certain EP car who fundamentally could not understand that he was in the process of screing on race, screwed another clearly and was racing like a headless chicken in the middle of a very close ITA race. The hard part of me when I talked with the driver afterwards was his lack of situational awareness. If you are putting everything you have into going forward... Bad stuff and silly stuff goes down. Linda had a moment in T2 as a result and it was nervous for me passing her, hopefully there was a learning here.
Victor won his first race.... Pete won his first race since 1980 something, and I had my first win. Felt amazing and had big flashes of building the car in the driveway, in the winter, in the snow, without a job. I was too excited in the car video to a level that I am almost embarrassed, abut it was a great feeling. There are a lot of people who have helped me fix the car, the driver, offered advice, taken my text at strange times, etc... Much thanks to everyone.
Congratulations Brad on your first win! I do have to correct your post, to let you (and I'm sure most people here already know) that Saturday was my First win of this season, but certainly not my first win in the past 10 years of racing in ITA. [I don't know the count but probably won around eight races or so.] :eclipsee_steering:

Sorry Brad to be buzzkill. (And since your videos are super pro, I could never top those) You're right, I'll admit a win is always exciting, and since they don't happen too often for me even, it's great to have the checkered flag (currently displayed in my work office). :)

Here are the best parts of my weekend, the starts!!! First time using the GoProHD's, need to tweak the mounting a bit, but it's ntb and my focus for these WAS the driver cuz I have another front pointing camara... The point is, you might wanna make the front ones big for better viewing.
