Dunno, I missed this one too! :( I was at NJMP running a couple Z cars... Have been here for 11 days now!
Yeah, there was a race.
Yes, NARRC race. Not the best turn out as expected on a July 4th weekend, but we had pretty close fighting in ITS/ITR.
Still waiting for results postings online (plus there was a hold in our group). In the meantime here a nice onboard from the close ITR/ITS/ITB race. Enjoy it in HD.
YouTube Video
I was having problems with the upload but I think it will work.
First couple of laps of the ITA (and SSB :D )

I got smoked on the start. Everyone started to go before the green and I was the sucker that held back........... good thing I did!!
The Mini is a pig!! Blast to drive. I could throw it into the corner, hope the curbs, get it sideways and never had it bite me. VERY forgiving!!
That ITR race was sick! I was nervous just watching the video!

I didn't get sheets before I left so I do not have any laps times. Steven ran a smart race and after a miss shift start ran back to the front after qualifying on the pole. Brian ran a strong race but not enough for Steven. I am still fighting an an oversteer. Will be changing out the rear control arms - could not correct toe in and no neg camber at track - wasn't a fun ride for me. I will try to post the video today.
Congrats to Steven and Brian!
Here's my video.
Raced Steven like a gentlmen after his mis-shift since my stuff was junk - tried to give him room to work as you will see in T-1 - settled in to P-3 "texting, beeping and waving" - oh well.
Interesting race craft towards the end of the video.
Agree with Jeff L that the field was paced quickly at the start, not sure it was a "jump" but also wasn't sure how Steven would fill that pacing role - so we went with the flow pacing with the pacer.
Congrats to Steven again and enjoy!:happy204:
Happy 4th - God Bless Our Troops!:023:

Start was even worse at the back of the field (SSC fate). Denise van Buren (yellow ITA Escort) had a mechanical during the pace lap, and the ITA Miata in front of me did not realize the problem and stayed behind her limping car - since he was ahead on the grid, I could not take the initiative and pass him; by the time we got to the top of the downhill, the field was almost at start/finish with green waving. I managed to make up a lot of ground by braking late into 1 behind the accordeoned-up field, but did not catch Steve Simpson in the other SSC car.
What followed was a heated chase between Steve and me over the entire distance, pretty evenly matched between me catching up and falling back a bit, aided by the ITA Miata that took turns mingling with Steve and me, slowing the respective SSC down in the process. In the end, Steve managed to hold me off, which did not matter - this was my most-fun-and-thrill race to far, and Steve got out of the car with a huge grin too. In addition, he ran an experimental setup, while I was on bought-used-tires that, as I found out after the race, had a 2005 production date :dead_horse: , so both our cars had a bunch of very sideways moments and close calls with the track edge, adding to the adrenaline. :eclipsee_steering:
Totally worth driving up from Baltimore, and great to see all the beloved NER workers :happy204: & drivers again! :026:
Hope to come up soon again,
Kai
good race, good drivers, we need hoosiers
Anyone have the ITB results/times/race report ? :024:
I just watched and was impressed with the driving. Nice job by all. This was more entertaining than most of the pro racing I watched over the weekend!
Drew, I thought it was great how you handled the ITB traffic. There are too many cars in higher classes that would have done things differently. :happy204:
The ITB,R,S race was very fun to watch!!!!Good driving to all.....
Those vidoes bum me even more for not being around that weekend...so keep em coming. We should have both cars at WGI and the NARRC Off's...maybe a few others here and there.
Looking forward to The Glen!!
Drew...thanks for the video!....check your PM
.
I was involved in an incident. :( Things are cool between myself and the other driver; talked it over together and I look forward to racing with him again very soon. I am bumed about the new paint job and body damage though. Also have a weird power surging issue to figure out. Now that should be fun, not!
Congrats to Nat on a well deserved win.

This has to be one of the best video documented races in SCCA - great post, Steve. Nice driving - we need to team up together at the Glen to thwart the BMW guys :-)
You better get use to it Steve. ;)

"to thwart"?
Ben you must be reading too many of Steve's books. :~)
Ah yes, well indubitably – we highly sophisticated, ivy educated types must confound you Pennsylvanians with our words when the horsepower leaves us in the oats! (hear me tapping my Cohiba cigar, and the ice chilling in my Johnny Walker Black)
Ergo, I'm starting to sound like....I must climb down off this ego! (Who dat???)
I will continue to keep "thwarting" as much as possible. I might even remove the jouster from the front of my car so Steve and I can bump draft a bit and keep y'all behind! :-)
I just realized - we might need to recruit Blethen for help - he's running a non-BMW in "R" too!
