Sweet.
Prices? Source?
Sizes??
Great. Lets hope the prices are competitive... Hoosiers are really breaking the bank these days
looks like the tire they made up for Spec Miatas.
Good tire.
They even added a pink stripe to attract Miata drivers.
where are you guys finding this info?
The only size for a while will be the SM from what I have heard, do not look for them to be a bargain tire though.
matt
Looks good
The GY will most likely be more expensive then Hoosiers, but they may be alot faster too!
With the job Toyo put on the Spec Miata folks with their new R888 tire some competition is in order. Second will be to see if the SCCA has what it takes to show support for we who pay the bills. The Toyo RA1 was a very good tire when cost, grip, life were looked at.
ps: Sorry Andy, not everyone found the tires to be as good as you say they are.
The GY's have always been a dollor or two LESS than the Purple crack. I have a set of these on my car right now. They are BIG and FAST.
IMHO, the GSCS-RS has always been a better tire than the Hooiser.........next size to be introduced is the 225/45/15.
re: the 888...I am convinced it's because guys just threw them on and expected them to BE the RA-1. No testing, no pyrometers, no adjustments. They aren't. What they are is a dang good tire that wears a little worse than the RA-1. All IMHO - after testing...not just BB regurgitation.
Not to be an alarmist, but when it hits 100 down here we expect the ATE ATE ATES to melt. They were already looking pretty bad back in March. Yes tire mgmt. may help some, but smarter racers than me are very worried about their performance / durability. Even some of Andy's old SMAC buddies are taking a wait (worry) and see on the 888s. Hopefully everybody down here is wrong and they can handle the heat.
Anymore information on these tires?
Track record NHMS 4-18-09
A great tire.
Are there any size and pricing updates for the Goodyear Eagle RS DOT tires? Goodyear's race tire website only lists the 17" and 18" wheel sizes. Nothing is listed in the IT sizes.
Here is the cut sheet with available sizes. Might just have to buy 6 of these to start next year off with.

I'd love to hear how they work, compared to the Hoosier and the BFG.
Obviously speed, but also drivability and life.
X 2
Seriuosly considering buying these for next year. Hoosiers are out since I want to get 3 to 4 double weekends out of a total of 6 tires cycled as evenly as possible. So my leading tire choice contenders are
GY-RS's
Kumho-710's
BFG R-1's
What does everyone think is the best option overall on a FWD ITA car.
I wouldn't say always Andy. I know when I was still running my Rabbit GTI in ITB, the GSCS were more than the Hoosiers. I also know that Hoosier has cranked up their prices over the last few years. From what I saw on the GY website, doesn't look like their pricing has changed much in that time frame.
The advantage of the goodyear is stability of speed. They will not go away like teh Ho Ho will.
The DISadvantage is life. They will NOT go 15 cycles like the HO Hos, will.
You can easily get 4 double weekends out of 4 New Hoosiers and 2 used ones ;)
Weekend 1 - Pair 1 on the front, Used Pair (8 cycles) on the rear
Weekend 2 - Pair 1 (4 cycles) on the front (flipped), Used Pair (12 cycles) on the rear
Weekend 3 - Pair 2 on the front, Pair 1 (8 cycles) on the rear
Weekend 4 - Pair 2 (4 cycles)on the front, pair 1 (12 cycles) on the rear
That way you always have < 8 cycle tires on the front and < 16 cycles on the rear.

Does anyone know if the Goodyear Eagle RS will be available in more sizes? I'm specifically interested in 225/50-R15 or 225/45-R15.
It seems that all the tires are starting off at around 23.1 inches...darn.
