Has Christian written a letter yet asking if he can run 17" Team Dynamics? I'd allow it.
I still say I wouldn't have done it, but I continue to wish you luck on your odd adventure.:D

Hmmm... maybe I can the request to run 17's in at the same time I ask to tub the rear end and switch the car to RWD. Maybe the ITAC would overlook the wheel request?
Thanks Kevin, I know you think I'm crazy for building it but I think it will be a spectacular and competitive car for the class. Hell, it's not like I've got the mad-skillz to be on the podium at the ARRC anytime soon even if I had kept the CRX!
Can't wait to see this thing together. You should set up a web-cast for the final reveal of the car :)
LOL! Well, I've got this short clip of Cameron walking into the shop while Bernard is painting... not quite a web-cast but it's a start ;)

Four weeks to the SIC...you gonna make it?
What color? BMW Laguna Seca Blue? Pretty color that....
Mmmmm... not exactly. It's a color that Honda started using on their S2000 around 2006. Laguna Blue Pearl. Nifty color that actually changes a bit depending on the light. Here are some pics I found online:

Everybody always gives me crap for using a two coat metallic paint, glad to see another joining the metallic/pearl team...looks cool!
You know, I have no idea if it's a two step metallic... honestly didn't think to ask.
It wasn't appreciably more expensive to use this paint than any of the other paints I looked at...
Very nice...the plan for my CRX has always been to move from the stop-gap rattle-can black on my car to Kinetic Blue Pearl, which is one of the current TL-S colors. I've had the paint since last September and just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Good luck w/ the project, guys!
Nice color Greg! Go ahead and get painting! You can have it all pretty looking for the ARRC :)
Metallic / pearl paint on a race car?
I use 'work truck white' on mine. Leaves more duckets for parts and entry fees, and there is a can of touchup paint at every hardware store in North America.
get your paint color matched to vinyl or a very close color. You appreciate it down the road :026:
I can get it in rattle-can for quick touch up. I also have a gun/compressor at home and could so minor work on it myself. :) I figure for any more major damage, it'll go to CMS for bodywork and paint anyway.
I worked on the cost estimates for paint with both CMS and Bernard (the paint guy)... it wasn't appreciably more for the paint I wanted vs. doing the entire car/cage/tub in a base white
They have a point...don't do this:
Candy apple green (3 coat process after primer)(color source: House of Kolors, then customized) over a Toyota metallic...just the darn taping took nearly 8 hours.
But the metallic aspect is easy...
Oh no, no, no, no. I'm not going to do anything nearly that labor intensive. The car is going to be all one color and anything else it gets will be vinyl. I toyed with the idea of going white for the whole thing and then just getting it vinyl "wrapped" once every year or two. In the end the vinyl started to sound like more trouble than it was worth.
Recvd some more photos... these show the beginning of the white base coat going on.

The fender still has some cosmetic rust repair that will be taken car of before final paint work is completed. The rear fenders will also be "rolled" per IT rules. Also, notice the end of the custom rear Speedway swaybar mount.

Below is a good shot of the rear swaybar mount again along with a good view into the rear cage area. The massive hole is where the fuel cell will be mounted.

The top coat of paint should be going on shortly!
So with the 20-30 pounds of expoy paint, how heavy will the car be?
What FD will be needed to move that slug???? 6.0:1
:024:
Oh yeah, I've been eyeballin a 88-89 Sedan locally, hrm. VIN rule?
At first I thought that RARB mount wasn't really tied in well, then I looked at the second picture, and heh heh heh, it's tied in...oh yea, no issues there!
