I was just wondering if anyone still has the A/C in the car they race. I would guess it would be someone with a dual use vehicle.
On a related note, what does the A/C system weigh on average?

A LOT. Compressors are usually in the range of 15# just by themselves. When you figure in the condenser/dryer, lines, fluids, and evaporator (the major chunks) you're probably looking at ~25-30# or more, most of it way out there in front.
You can always remove the belt when you get to the track (assuming the A/C is not what is used to adjust the belt and is used for other things) but a free-spinning A/C clutch doesn't take up that much HP anyway.
So, really, it comes down to the amount and location of extra ballast; in a FWD car that's a performance killer.
despite the weight penalty I did keep it i, my SM/ITA. Its awesome on the grid when the temp is at about 94. all the grid workers hang by my car for some reason. Yes it does add some weight, but I don't really care as I need ballast anyway. more so as of Aug 1.
