ITA 240SX ring and pinion

Hopefully someone can help... here's the situation:
I have prepared an ITA 240SX and will be going through the driver schools next month(northern Ohio racing season doesn't start very early) and I would like to go to a higher final drive ratio.
I know that my car has an R200 ring gear (200mm?) and I think that older pathfinders have the same gear in the front differential, and they have a 4.375 or a 4.625 ratio.
Does anyone know for sure if they will fit into my car's rear-end, or if the gears from any other readily available junk-yard find will fit... I don't want to have to spend $650 on a set of NISMO gears.

Front Diff gears from an xterra will fit. The complete diff's used are going for between 400 and 500 bucks depending. You can only use the gears. This is first hand as I have built 3 of them now from these gears.

Sorry to hijack here, but I always wondered if those Xterra gears would fit...

Thanks Joe, I'm going to keep looking. The older pathfinders and hardbodies have gear sets available for less than $100 in junkyards. Given the Japenese propensity for using all the same parts in their vehicles, my hopes are still good. If I find out I'll post it.

Which year models have which ratios? I'm going hunting this week and need as much info as possible.

From what I can tell, the 1989 and similar (don't know what years it covers) pathfinders have a R200 in the front diff. with either 4.375 or 4.625 ratios available.
V6 pickups (not 1996 or 1997) have a 4.375.
2001 and newer xterras and frontiers have a 4.63 or 4.9 available.
all are in the front diff, rear is a different size.

Will the stock 4.08 ring and pinion from the s13/s14 r200 swap into the r200 from z31 300zx 84-89 models?

Hey Guys lets see if you can help me with this. I have a helical lsd out of an s15. The problem that I have is that the s14 side shafts have 29 splines and the lsd requires a 30 spline. I have been told that there is some type of Infinity side shaft that will work but have been unable to find out which one that may be. Any ideas? Come on Joe, please help me out!! Also on a side note, have you guys done any dyno work with exhaust systems? Joe what type of system do you run with the Radial Sedan cars? My car is one of the ex speedvivion cars as well. I think the side shaft you need is a J30 part. Or you will need the inner joint out of a s15...I'll get back to you on the exhaust, I am doing work on this stuff right now.

Only the S-15 axle shafts will work with S-15 Helical LSD. If you didn't buy them with the LSD, you are going to have a hard time finding them on their own, but there are a few places that import "used" ones. You'll have to search around the web to find those places. If you buy them new they are around 300.00$ a set, and that is IF you can find someone to export them to you since you can't buy them in the states.
I am reworking my exhaust too now, so any info would be helpful. Thanks

David, So far I've had the best results with a hotshot header that I had Burns Stainless make a good merge collector for. The rest is mandrel bent 2.5" all the way out with a single chamber Flowmaster at the end in factory position. I have tried different bullet mufflers in various locations and a full 3" mandrel system in several configurations. I have not tried 2.25" yet but I'm pretty happy so far with 2.5" but I'm definately interested in what others have tried. Tristan, I'm not sure if the 12 valve will respond the same as the 16V?

I have been using a 3" exhaust with the custom stepped header like I was informed to do when the motor was built and tuned by Sunbelt. I have a two chamber flowmaster mid system now, but the exhaust is low and catches on everything. I am going to redo the whole thing. I was thinking about getting a good merge collector on it and stepping the exhaust from 2.5" to three. But I am still doing research on that. I'm moving the muffler to the back stock location this time. I just got a new enclosed trailer (36 ft Gooseneck, all aluminum, really nice) and the exhaust gets caught on the dove tailed part..... grrrrr. Anyone have any ideas on stepping the exhaust up from 2.5" to 3" about mid point in the system?
