For the Fun One at the Glen, the supps state that camping will be in the paddock area and no infield camping south of Wedgewood Road. If camping in a tent, do you really need to camp in the paddock? Is camping in the outfield allowed?

Depends on what your definition of "outfield" is.
"South of Wedgewood Rd"...there is still lots of grassy paddock "north" of Wedgewood Rd., so you should be able to find an appropriate spot. Wedgewood is the from the "false grid" to the flag station on driver's right, at the entry to the back straight.
Can you camp down in the Boot ? No.
Can you camp down near the Bus Stop ? No.
Are there plenty of grassy, level, well-drained places to set up a tent and start a campfire north of Wedgewood ? Yup.
It's a WGI requirement...the 2 regions that race there have the same restriction.

I'm not Steward-meat for the Fun One...I'm just the lowly "race chair". Bitch at me if you don't like the pig roast, or the bottled water in Impound isn't the Fijian free-range bottled-by-virgins brand you so richly deserve. I ain't the "split start guy" this weekend. Hell, if I don't get my SRF steering rack back from the rebuilder soon, I might just drag the Miata down and run in ITA.
I will, however, pass your request along. YOU should ALSO make the request, and cite the outstanding sportsmanship and impeccable race manners of your fellow ITA competitors, as a reason why you be granted a split start.
Just sayin.
We didn't end up camping that year but will be this coming weekend. Where are decent areas to camp N or Wedgewood Road? Just near the tower sites (near paddock)? Or is camping allowed on the outside of the track somewhat near the front stretch grandstand?
Are fires allowed (understand their fire wood reg)?
I called the track but they said this is dictated by the club renting the track. Weird.
EDIT: DAMN YOU DAVE - YOU WERE STILL LOGGED IN ON MY LAPTOP!!!
So, this is Kai, using Dave's account, from Kai's laptop.
Sheesh!!!
Will there be any track access for early-arriving campers Thursday night, *after* 8 PM when the registration office closes?
I am driving up from Baltimore and if I can't get in past 8 PM, would need to leave suitably early.
(Driving faster is not an option. I don't like speeding too much - will be driving the racecar on the street as usual, and it may be a bit of a cop magnet. Being pulled over might be double bad with 12 wheels in the car...! )
Thanks!
GA, wondering how long before Dave and Kai realize that Dave left himself logged into IT.COM at Kai's house, and also wondering how much money Kai would charge to let me log into Gran's IT account and write stuff like "I'm a little teapot, short and stout; here is my handle, here is my spout"...
On edit: "Last edited by gran racing; Today at 12:23 PM." DAMMIT!!!!!
Okay, so on second thought maybe I need to camp in a more populated area. :p
WTF... why is a post by "Kai Noeske" or "Greg Amy" 'last edited by gran racing' ???
Did anyone give *that* man admin powers over this forum? :o Jeebus, haven't you seen what he does to a racecar, or what happens when he posts a video on teh internetz???
My god, I'm horrified enough that he was on my laptop, and probably saw my favorite sites are little horsey fan sites, and he may have discovered my unicorn fetish. This is getting bad. I'm smarter than this. How do I keep letting this crap HAPPEN!?!?!
hehehehehh.....B)
All I know is two things: I can't stop laughing!!!!! And, at the national in July this year there were people camped all over the infield, including out by the bus stop AND out by the boot.
