There have been discussions this summer regarding the direction of the Pro IT series. The Series, as with the IT category in general, has been losing its lower end participants. There have been no ITC entries this year and the ITA and ITB entries have dropped significantly. This appears to be the trend rather than a blip.

The most promising approach discussed was to open the series to another class(es) of car which are compatible with the IT philosophy and will race well with our current competition. The most promising appears to be Super Touring Light (STL). So far this year we have had a couple of STL cars compete in our ITX non-championship class. Other classes are being reviewed.

Based on this experience, it has been decided to accept STL as a provisional class for the remainder of this year. There will be event awards and an event prize fund for STL starting with Round 6 at NJMP. Unfortunately, there can be no yearend recognition due to the late start.

See ya at a Pro IT race
