I've used both. Like the convex mirror better, but both work.

Stock rear view mirror is fine for me.

I like convex side mirrors

Used both but also prefer the convex. One of the Winks I had was too close (because of the cage I couldnt mount it further away) and I had trouble seeing all of the panels

First race car I used a Wink. I liked it fine. Fpr my current car I bought one and it just didn't work for me. I found a convex one and mounted it to the stock mount and it works great.

You're exactly right Mike. Mickey won't need a mirror, everything will be in front of him. :p

Ever had a wink panel come unglued in the middle of a corner? Somewhat distracting.....as in WTF was that?!!? That said, we've had winks in all our cars....except the one Steph took to Thompson a couple weeks ago. Had taken the wink out of it so the cage guy could make brackets in the proper place in the HP build. Forgot to put it back in! She didn't like it that way! Found a speed shop close that had a wide convex, she liked that and seems to prefer it over the wink. We use 6 inch truck convex mirrors for the side mirrors and love 'em.

Convex mirror in mine. wish I had a different one. Depth perception is crap, so it's hard to tell is someone is near my rear corner or beside me.

worry about the guy in front of you not behind, once he gets his nose next to your door panel you'll know that he is coming and then you can react.

Convex. Had both, but convex gives more of a panoramic view and doesn't rattle like my wink did, wish my street cars had convex.

i miss my wink mirror!! but i think it is subject to different cars. i have a convex in the bimmer and i cant see crap out of it but llike mickey most of the cars are in front of me so i dont really use it much. But when we get put into big bore i use it a lot trying to figure out what is coming up on me at an alarming pace!

I agree with Tim. I have had a wink in the car and small (slightly) convex bike mirrors on each side for many years. I even got some grief about the side mirrors when I started using them, but they're great for seeing close beside the car. You just can't see any distance behind you with a convex mirror. I tried one for a race last year and immediately went back to the Wink. If you're in a mixed group with big differences in lap times, the sooner you can see who's coming up to lap you, the better. Passing flags are obviously very helpful but are usually displayed at a corner and that can be too late when you're in a battle. Trust me, I know. When I know who's coming up behind me I can usually effect where I get passed without screwing up my lap time too much or interfering with my race. And sometimes that passing car can be a big advantage for getting by that guy you've been chasing down. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it!

I love my full length wink mirror. From my first weekend in the car, I was able to spot when Andy Porterfield's GT-1 Camero was about to pass. To clear blind spots with the hard top, and no side mirrors I now have two of the Longacre convex spot mirrors mounted on the upper window diagonal braces. I can even spot the midget FP cars behind me like Brian Linn's Lotus 7:

Convex mounted to stock mount.

And no matter what it is, don't let it be too close. And don't mount winks straight if you use them.

LOVE the convex I put in the Mustang!

I did find this place...

I've never dealt w/ them....or you can purchase directly from the AllView website.

BTW--I've used one of these for years and highly recommend it.

Thanks for the link. I tried all of the sites on the dealer links and none sold the mirror. The right side of my Wink mirror fell down during my feature race at Pocono on Sunday. Fun times!

The right side of a wink fell in my lap during a 24 hour race. Ripped it out and never used a wink again. Between the buzzing and vibrating image(s) they are truly a POS.

No luck ordering from these folks either... I don't think it is in stock, left messages byt no return call :(

Also left a message at Allview, will update this thread if i do finally find somplace to order from. Thinking though that I will go with the Longacre mirror, anyone have experience with those?

Any other ideas on a supplier?

ok, got through to Autobarn... they have some big phone system issues (person didn't seem to care who I got through to). I learned the secret is to just stay on the line when the first "menu" is given, wait for it to ring through into another menu listing options. The second menu gives different options and it actually goes to someone. Not sure if the first menu is a night option that they forgot to turn off or what but if you hit any of the options it goes into a voicemail that isn't checked!

Anyway, with that said, they do not have any Allview mirrors in stock and none are on order. They get calls 2-3 times a week for them but it looks like the manufacturer might not be making them or hasn't made them in a while. If anyone discovers them in stock let us know... going to go with the longacre one for now from Summit Racing and I will let you guys know what one I like better (my brothers allview or the longacre one I order for my car).

Dave- thank you for the info... didn't work out this time but in general you always nkow where to get the good stuff!

If worse comes to worse, I think you can get the street car/clip-on version on Amazon. Might want to go that way and rig up a better mount.

Hi all,

I ran into the same problems with Autobarn regarding the all view mirror. I ended up buying this:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAF-ALL76404

for $15.

Gregg, I actually have the clip-on mirror from ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAZO-RG22-300mm-Flat-Wide-Rear-View-Mirror-Universal-Fitment-Clip-On-Carmate-JDM-/400582358062?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d4491b42e&vxp=mtr

It works great unless your stock mirror jolts loose over bumps...

After much discussion group fanfare, we decided to keep the clip on mirror extension that mounts on my OEM. The mounted gauges on the dash and small cockpit make it difficult to mount a full length mirror.

We went with the longacre convex from summit racing... Loved it!
