Can someone explain what more can be done to the RX8 for STU, and also what is the minimum weight in STU.

Please correct me if I am wrong and add anything I miss.
Min weight
ITR. 2850
STU. 2300

In STU you can run carbon hood and trunk and lexan

In STU you can run light flywheel

That's all I am seeing

That's all I am seeing
- Open shocks
- Wheel size..?
- Brakes
- Tire size
- Seam welding
- Unlimited cage
- Rear wings and front splitters
- Plastic hood/trunk
- Plastic "glass"
- Door beam removal
- Battery unrestricted, inc location
- Ignition unrestricted
- Injectors
- Engine management (inc sensors) pretty much unrestricted
- Transmissions/gear ratios

- Anything else...?

Prob won't make much of a difference... ;)

Where ya goin' with this thread?

Not sure what to do, I want to build an itr rx8, but the thought of not being able to do nationals has me wondering what my options are.
STU seems like a potential class but I am not really understanding what makes the cars so fast. Your reply helped.

I thought we could do engine management, and open shocks in ITR

no chance in STU. these cars have been run by pros in all sorts of series... compare the lap times of them and then decide. if you can get them to add a turbo to the car then maybe STU is an option. I can get prices on a complete carbon fiber body if you're interested,

Engine sensors are limited in IT and you have to use the stock AFM if you have it; not so in STx. Shocks in IT are limited by number of adjustments and no exterior reservoirs.

Convert your Miata to ITS/STL much better car for the classes!

Go out in your back yard and dig a hole to put money in, same as investing in an STU RX8. You will never get close to power needed as classed and will need to run radio controlled to make min weight. It had a chance in STL but does not need to be in the class for reasons discussed other places. Love the car but it is screwed for ST whatever.

I desperately just need to race something other then a miata. 7 years now of racing miatas, I am dieing to try something new. The ITR class looks appealing except for the national status. I expect I will see the inside of a miata again at some point though.

Buy the ITR S2000 for sale in the classified, it's a great deal! can run in STU as well!

It is a fantastic deal to run mid pack or near the front, I need to build a car that can win, and I would end up replacing almost everything on that car. But that car is selling for what a donor and cage would cost, great deal.
I am trying to get my nephew to buy it.

How about the 968 with a 2.5 turbo in it making 400 hp?

:happy204: I was just trying to play our racer ego against your RCADD (Race Car Attention Deficit Disorder) to get you to build an easily-swapped power plant for STU...I have to say, you've been pretty good lately...didja joina RCADD 12-step program..? ;)

Holy crap that got me chuckling! I did join the RCADD program -ITR! Love the class and the whole Pro IT program has been outstanding with a level of competition that beats nationals in my provincial eyes.

I can't see making my car a full STU ride - if I was going for that class I'd locate a full on pro built car and dumb it down for the class. New platforms will be the winners in STU me figures.

Turbo Audi or BMW would be my picks cause I like those cars.

Can you believe I'm going into the fifth season with the 968?!?

(and sacrilege! I just got a BMW E90 for the street and cannot believe how awesome it is!)
