Just cause I am bored at work...it's Friday....and I like Audi's .

I pose this question for discussion....

What would be a good Audi Quattro IT car ?

A 4000 in ITB ?

A Coupe Quattro in ITA ?

Perhaps an A4 ....ITS ?

And cause it's German ..thoughts about a BMW 325X...?

Would these cars be to heavy to compete ? Has anyone attempted this yet ?

:birra: cheers !

I do not believe these cars make enough torque to make AWD necessary; certainly not enough to make it worth carrying the extra mass.

Both FWD and AWD Eagle Talon cars ran in IMSA Firehawk, and the AWD cars typically stayed on the sidelines unless there was significant probability of rain. They were just too heavy. And these were turbocharged cars...

It would be fun to try, but you'll spend your days praying for rain.

That's preety cool ! A subby ? Is it a Brat ?? :)

I wonder if an A4 with the 2.8 would work ?

I kinda thought that the 4 cyl AWD cars are to low on HP to be eworth it....Or like what Greg said ...pray for rain..

The ITA 20v Coupe Quattro is interesting with 172hp and it is well geared in 2nd/3rd to get out of the turns... It would be my choice for an ITA car if parts were more accessible... Just sold 2 of them to start my RX8 build :(

Still, that's pretty good. My ITA NX2000 was 140 stock and the ITS Integra was 170hp stock. And the I5 engine is a torque monster (the NX was only in the mid-130s wheel torque in ITA trim).

I'm sure the Audi is very heavy, but on long tracks (ARRC at Road Atlanta, VIR, Watkins Glen) and with AWD that may not matter...looks like a very good ITA candidate.

It'll certainly be the best sounding car in ITA. Love the 5 cylinder noise.

I think there are 2 160hp cars in ITA now. Mazda 3 comes to mind

The old FWD Audi's are into the mid 1:03's at Lime Rock, what do you think you could do going from 110hp to 162 stock??? Oh and the Quattros all have independent rear ends as compared to the beam axle in the back of the FWD cars, all 20v and older have center locking diffs, and the brakes don't even come close to being the same (however you will need all of them to get the thing stopped!).

Oh, forgot abot this one... Weight balance is 100% better also with some weight behind the front axle in the AWD cars..

Oh, one more thing... I wonder if using all 4 tires will keep you from burning up the fronts? I bet all that HP on the Mazda 3 with the weight up around 3,000lbs (did not look in GCR) won't help much past 1/2 way!

Wow..that would be cool ! I totally forgot that some of the Quattros were 20v's ! Now that would be a really cool build.

How would you get it to turn ? I thought I read somewhere, that on AWD vehicles, you would want to weld the rear diff for road racing and weld the front for rally ? Or keep them both open/LSD ?
