I received word today that former ITA/ITS driver Robert Willis passed way. This note is from the ApexSpeed thread. Robert was a great racer and a wonderful man - please keep his family in your prayers.

Just got this from a friend. Robert owned Cafe Giulia in Lakeville, CT right near Limerock. In the short time I knew him he raced a Vintage Alfa Giulia (of course) as well as an S2000. Last time I saw him he looked well and was just about to move the restaurant to the middle of town.

Not sure who else crossed paths with him, but he was a gentle, intellegent guy with great upbeat attitude.

To all our wonderful friends:

We will hold a memorial service for Robert on
Sunday, July 8 at 3 p.m. at the Salisbury Congregational Church, followed by a reception at the Ragamont.
Please cast the net wide and let those that loved Robert know.
There will be an obit in this week’s Lakeville Journal with the memorial service info, as well.

Thank you all for the incredible support you have given us.
Love, Tara, McCullough and Jack

Aw, nooo...! Crap.

Robert was truly a great one, a good stick, always a smile, always there to help. And always the optimist, even when playing around with undependable Prod equipment...

Damn. Damn.

Got wind of this the other day and it's truly saddening. What a nice, happy guy. Enjoyed seeing him several weeks ago as he made my son and I a great meal while sitting outside admiring the Alfa. Really too bad.

Ah this is a shame, Bob was really a genuine nice guy. He was always glad to see you and swap stories of how fast we use to think we were. I'd take an infrequent trip up the Lime Rock and when we happened to cross paths it was like old home week. I'll miss him.

What did he drive in ITA/ITS? My fading memory remembers meeting him at LRP when I first started racing.

He had a yellow CRX and a black TEG. I believe Scott Hoven purchased his CRX.

Aw mann! He was a wonderful person. I met him when I first started racing back in 2002 and mostly saw him at Lime Rock, but he came ot NHIS a couple times. I raced with him in ITA with my White Teg and he had a yellow CRX. He then built a black teg, lost touch with him after that. He was such a nice person, he even let my dad and I stay at his house one weekend during a LRP race back around 2004 so we didn't have to find (and pay) for a place to sleep. His house is beautiful, nice property with horses, and a garage full of vintage ferraris and alfas).
May he rest in Peace and his family find comfort.
His brother (or brother-in-law) John raced in DSP.

Wow! This is sad news. Robert was always such a nice dude with not a bad bone in his body. More sad that I just found out about this. RIP Robert!
