Maybe I'm over thinking this. 9.1.4.L.1 says:

The battery may be replaced with any equivalent battery of the
same type. Battery may be relocated, but must be secured by a
tie-down bracket and positive terminal must be covered to prevent
accidental sparking.

What is an "equivalent battery of the same type"? Does this just mean 12v, or does this mean the same battery group number? In other words, am I stuck with the stock size battery?

Cool beans! I'd really like to be sporting a small battery at the Runoffs.

Every STU car I've seen has a smaller than stock battery, but they're all lead-acid.
IMO, that falls within the scope.
(And dammit, I hope so.. I'm running a Miata battery relocated to the trunk to get the 70lb off my RF corner!)

The ECU and coils came back today, so I'll be installing all of that on Sunday. If all goes well, I'll also get to start the car the weekend! I may even jump the gun and install the lightweight battery I have sitting around. :)

Then it's just a matter of whether I want to make the drive to Miller in August.
