Anyone know of any places in Michigan (Detroit) or Ohio (Columbus, Dayton?) where you can view a good selection of racing seats for sale? Thanks!

Only place I know of in Columbus, OH is Jegs. They have some selection. The best place to compare seats is at a racing industry show such as IMIS or PRI. Ther you can compare just about all of the different brands and styles.

Averill Racing Stuff is in Madison Heights, I'm not sure just how much he has in-stock though.

Best to give him a call, he doesn't do much on-line:

Another suggestion would be to go to a race and look at various cars. Most drivers would let you try out their seat.

Bill is correct.

Save for very shows catering to all racers (not just circle and drags), you are not going to get a good selection of Roadrace seats to try at a store.

You need to go to the right store.
While I realize that it is probably too far to travel to from where you are. But we have the full line of Sparco racing seats in the showroom at OG Racing. We also have a large selection of Kirkey and a couple of the Racetech seats as well.
All in the showroom waiting for you to try out.

Lane Automotive in Watervliet is not that close to Detroit but they might have some affiliates near Detroit.

not sure what they actually have in their showroom now but it is circle track centric.

You might try one of the local (Detroit) pro racing shops, like Rehagen Racing (http://www.rehagenracing.com/) or Capaldi Racing (http://www.capaldiracing.com/)

Both sell parts and have lots of cars at the shop.

You're going to find a *very* few retailers that actually have stock - like OG. Most are "reseller" (if that distinction is clear?) who will gladly order something from the importer/manufacturer and have it drop-shipped to you door. That's FINE if you know for sure what you need but it's going to fall short if you are looking for good information on which to make a decision.

Go to a track during a very busy weekend and patrol the paddock with a camera and a notepad. I have absolutely zero doubt that guys will let you test-drive their seats... - GA
