I ordered a set of delrin radiator/front engine subframe bushings. They are the 247-parts.com version.

I can't figure out how to remove the old ones, and the Bentley manual says nothing about it.

How do remove the old ones without destroying the metal insert/washer?

If I recall correctly, you can just pull the two halves apart, and the bushings will remain in one half. Then pop them with a hammer, or use a press to get the old rubber pieces out.

So, the metal insert is two halves, interesting. I tried to pull them appart, but they must be rusted together since no matter how I tried, they didn't split.

The front subframe consists of two halves that are held together by the rubber bushing. I found a picture of one taken apart.

I have been able to press/knock some apart, and have used a fire wrench on others. Do that outside as it is stinky work.

This is what I'm asking about:

I don't remember now what we did with that but one way to make rubber bushing go away is to get it hot. Torch it, even with a handheld propane unit.
