You may remember my thread from a couple of weeks ago.

So after looking around at cars for sale and considering advice from here I told her I really didn't feel comfortable paying more than $2500 for the CRX.

Well she emailed me back today and said "how does $1000 sound?"

I said "sold" :)

It will be non-op in California after April 16th because it didn't pass emissions (just needs new gas, tune up, etc more than likely), but that should not be a problem here as I can register it as an antique with it being more than 25 years old.

It will come with two sets of street wheels/tires and one set of race wheels with new tires.

I should be into it for under $2k with shipping and taxes.

The missiz isn't thrilled :( but oh well I told her after the 3rd old car that what does she expect she married a gearhead fer crissake :)

That is great news. I guess she wanted to give you a good deal and probably thought $5k was one when she threw out the number.
Good that you are shipping it although the adventure of driving it back might have given us all some entertainment.:D

I thought about that but I think having it shipped will be easier albeit considerably less entertaining :)

Mrs69 asked me where I was planning on putting the spare engine and I said why right next to the other one in the 3 season porch, honey. I think there is some room next to the iron table with the umbrella on it :035:

I haven't told my wife where I've hidden all the spare engines!

I made an agreement with my wife when we got our house. I was to controll the garage and the "man cave" (finished porch of ~350sq.ft), she gets say over the rest of the house.

so I put my motros and transmissions in the garage, along with everything else for the racecar, and the race car. I used the man cave for gaming and hanging out with the guys.

worked out well until the treadmill, lawn mower, strollers, a spare mattress, and numerous other "ugly" things needed to share my allotted space so as not to clutter hers.

good luck with this. if you make it through the clutter conversations, the rest is easy.

I have inherited the family packrat gene. I do keep it under control for the most part and I'm nowhere near as bad as others in my family. My uncle just passed away last summer and my cousins are still finding storage units full of stuff that no one knew about. But I still love to go to flea markets, thrift shops, auctions, and closeout places because I love a good deal on good stuff :) Mrs69 likes to chide me about "crapping up" her spaces, but she is just as bad in that respect as I am (like the jogging stroller that I have to move every time I need the lawn mower, the same jogging stroller that has never been unfolded even once since she got it two years ago :dead_horse: ).

Anyway, I'm filing the permit Monday (office is closed today) for a 28 x 40 detached garage which will house all 4 of my cars plus a shop area. She is really excited because she will get back the carport that I kicked her out of last summer when we finally sold our old house and I had to move the cars from there over to the new place. She will also have the porch which I've been using as a shop for the last 2 years :D

Methinks shipping with a reputable shipper will cost a minimum of $1500. I've got a quote on iShip of $880 but that might be a broker and I've been warned to stay away from shipping via broker.

Looks like you guys might get your entertainment after all :)

I'll be sure to bring my computer and post pics along the way. Not sure when I'll be leaving yet.

On another note, it will have a nice cozy place to stay when it gets here :)

This will work out better anyway, seeing as I think it would be good for my aunt to have some family around even if for just a few days.

Occasionally I have to remind my wife of 35 years that our first date was to a motocross race and I was racing! Occasionally, but not too often. Chuck

Wow! Don't see shipping to be more than the car too often or maybe ever. GL

Cool keep the pictures of the build coming! Where do you live? Looking at the pictures, I'm guessing the lower half of the country, as you have pretty full trees.

Hmm, I haven't check in in a while. Busy year last year - I was out of town most of the summer and fall.

Did get the garage done:
