"Total Seal", gapless, is all that I use. They will make any size that you want.

I second the choise of Total Seal rings. I have used them for 2-3 engine builds and they have worked well with no problems and these were all "racing" engines.

I did a quick search on the internet of VW parts sites and found most places sell "standard" sizes but only some of them offer "oversize" rings.

They are out there, Mahle & Grant to name two. I'm sure there are others but it's just not as easy to find as say for a Ford or Chevy V8.

Check with your engine builder/machine shop as they may have contacts/suppliers that may be able to get what you need.

Talk to your machine shop or engine builder too.

I want to say I ended up with total seal on top and stock style on bottom on AMTs advice.

Look around for Grant part #s and order from the local guys.
"Topline" may also have them. If you can find a Topline parts #, hit me with an email with your sizes. Topline is one of my sponsors, 1 mile from my shop.
The Grant are soft and seat easy.
The "total seal" make power unitl the parts fall out.
If you are building a race engine, why would you scrimp on the rings?
IMHO,

I had Total Seals on my Scirocco and probably will use them again when I build up the new engine for the HP GTI.
