Cal Club and Buttonwillow have been talking about this for years, and it finally looks like it will happen!

It's Never Been So Easy

Competing for a western states sports car championship has never been so easy with the announcement that Buttonwillow Raceway Park and California Sports Car Club (Cal Club) will present the Inaugural Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships next October 29-30. Competitors from several sanctioning bodies throughout the United States are invited to compete.

The Inaugural Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships at Buttonwillow Raceway Park is the perfect event to cap any team's 2011 season. Other national championships will already be finalized providing a go-for-it plan of attack for teams seeking west coast championship bragging rights.

"This emerging platform for sports car racing is one we expect to evolve into historic proportions in years to come," said Buttonwillow Raceway Park President, Les Phillips. "For good reasons our expectations are high for this championship race. It's long overdue. The Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships is open to all racers from Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), National Auto Sport Association (NASA), Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA), Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR), American Stock Car Racing (ASC), BMW Club, Porsche Club and beyond. For the first time sanctioning body barriers will be blown away offering two full days of hardcore sports car racing."

There are no qualifying requirements from invited competitors. If you're a licensed driver with any sanctioning body invitee then you qualify to compete for a Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships crown.

Each entrant will declare what organization they are affiliated with and their car will be inspected under the rule book of their home organization. The goals for this event, besides having it become an annual happening, is to maintain safety standards yet provide an equal platform delivering a competitive racing product.

"The lure and challenge for west coast racers to compete at existing national championship events east of the rockies face logistical nightmares these days," commented Penelope Coy, Cal Club’s Regional Executive. "It's a two week commitment when towing across the country plus it breaks the bank for some with escalating fuel costs to feed those thirsty tow vehicles. Plus funding travel and accommodations for crews, family and friends leaves the desire to race for a coveted club national championship trophy nothing more than a dream until now. The Inaugural Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships is the answer to that dilemma."

Dedicated test days are available prior to the event. Paddock space is ample with amenities in place that include limited RV spaces with hookups, camping, showers and the tower restaurant. Race fuel is available at the tract pump plus the Buttonwillow Raceway Park tire shop will be in full swing supplying all classes with rubber. Hotel accommodations are plentiful in Buttonwillow and Bakersfield with an ample selection of popular eateries. Buttonwillow weather conditions in late October are always favorable.

Cal Club's reputation of top notch officiating plus their outstanding staff of award winning workers promises to bring a professional level of organization to the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. For SCCA, NASA, VARA, HSR, ASC, BMW Club, Porsche Club and pro drivers, this event will be icing on the cake and carry high marks for victors and competitors alike who participate in this unique inaugural event.
