So what's everyone's plans for next year??

My plan is to dog Andy to every race he goes to until I beat him straight up...............

:)

Naaaaaaaa. Although Andy and I did talk about going down to VIR for a weekend. I've never had my ITA car there so it would be fun!!

I'm looking at Pocono, at least one LRP, Thunder and one WGI. I'd also like to go down to the ARRC again to see how bad I can get beat up on!! Maybe do some Pro IT??

And..... who's doing what to their cars for next year??? :eclipsee_steering:

I'm thinking about heading down to VIR for the Goblins Go event. Sounds like that's typically a well attended event, not entirely sure though. Then 2 glen races, LRP twice, Summit (TBD when, damn Indy / AMLS race on Labor Day!), and NJMP.

ARRC sounds good, but it's such a freaking long tow. :(

Do it. VIR is awesome. Especially in the wet. As a matter of fact, I think a smart way to go is to do the Goblins Go, esp since you're considering the ARRC, tow to VIR. Do race, load up. Tow an hour and a half south-ish to RDU, leave rig at airport private parking. Fly home. 10 days later fly back. Tix were $109 for me RT. An parking was super cheap. Jeff Young helped me out and I made arrangements with the manager ahead of time. Then continue tow to Road Atlanta, Return as normal. Saves a TON of towing and gas and $$.

If you guys (Dave, Andy?) want to do it as a group, I'd do it again.

As for Pocono, a gun would be needed for me to go back. Awful place.

Come on down to VIR in March. You want to attempt to split a run at an ECR in a Triumph? Entry fees are $175, we can split that, but brake pad consumable costs may hit four figures!

Seriously, love to have you down.

On WGI, what are the normal dates? August will be a long tow to Daytona. If WGI is either July or September I may do it.

Jeff, have you SEEN the in car camera videos of Greg's drives? (like the Glen?) Just ask Billiel about a cars longevity in his hands. :D

Seriously, he's a good driver.
(but watch the vids first. heh heh heh)

It's got big nasty steel and rubber bumpers.

Seroiusly, would love to have Greg down but the TR is not capable of an ECR. After a 30 minute sprint race at VIR, the front brakes are done.

It was slim in 2010, we took too long to prep the car and test in early spring. Haste makes waste and that was exactly what happened. Things have been different since Aug '10. Matt is building and will tune a 10/10ths motor. I will remove the front sway bar, if time allows, push close to 1K lbs in the rear, put in a Hondata s300 and add some gauges in the car... namely a shift light ;) possibly going to 225's in the front. I can just hear Jeff, "jeez kid one thing at a time!"

Between paying the build and parts bills, buying some metal for my gf and trying to buy a house, I will be lucky to do half of NARRC schedule. Ideally, I would go to FL in Feb, VIR in March, NARRC and ARRC... but that might have to wait for another year. For now, I will hope to go to POC in May and a test weekend beforehand.

3/12-13 VIR (ITB CRX) This is a track on the personal bucket list.

After VIR the "plan" has the CRX likely undergoing several hopefully speedy improvements, so in that interim timeframe:

4/30-5/1 NJMP Devil in the Dark (a definite maybe if I can arrange a ride or might just offer to crew)
5/7-8 Pocono (home region event so probably just be there worker bee capacity)

The ITB car shuld be back together sometime in late May ready in time for:

6/4-5 NJMP Thunderbolt
6/25-26 NJMP Lightning
7/30-31 Mid Ohio IT Fest
8/20-21 NJMP Thunderbolt
9/17-18 Glen (Big Maybe - I think I might be allergic to blue guiderail)
10/22-23 NJMP Lightning

And as a wild-wildcard depending on how the year goes,

11/4-6 ARRC (either to drive, spectate or crew)

Travis and I are looking forward to this season. We now have to 2 VW Golfs as well as the A-Sedan and are planning to drive at some events and continue to bring in some more new drivers to SCCA and IT
I know I would like to do the ARRC's and one of those Summit Point races with almost 30 ITB cars, but we'll see how the season plays out. Im sure we'll be at all LRP's, maybe a couple NHMS's and definitely a Watkins Glen.

Looking forward to meet more of you guys this year

Dave, to be hnest, B down here at VIR is pretty weak right now. We get, by far, the most cars for SARRC/MARRS when the MARRS guys come down. That's in May. Sometimes 20 car fields, or more.

Sometimes at Goblins we will get 2-3 B cars, sometimes 5-6. But that is about it.

Sorry man.

Not a bad time to introduce myself to the NEDIV guys, I plan to run a few at the Glen this year and maybe one at Lime Rock. I ran ITC from 95-98 and then ran Nationals/Runoffs in GT4/GTL through 2006...after Topeka I thought it was time to retire.....and I thought I had..
But I had the itch and took pity on an ITA CRX up in NH....so.....instead of buying the 10k Miata and waxing it until the snow melts in Syracuse....about June. I thought why go smart and easy and be quick right away...no Joe..dive right back in and replace, paint and question every single part, piece and placement. But I've missed it...

To those like Jeff thinking of coming to the Glen...do it. Only a few tracks in the U.S. can even compare. The surroundings are beautiful, lake, hills covered in rows of grape vines, small town main st., racing history on par with european tracks...oh and driving the long course at the Glen at speed can only be compared with a few things in...life.

Ok...gotta go get back to the snowblower,

Is Pocono that bad?

Ive never been but since it's under 2hrs was thinking up heading up in may this year.

This should be my first full season out this way. looking at

Devil in the dark, crewing only for random folk unless someone is looking to pick up another driver

NJMP June 25-26
IT Fest July
NJMP Aug 20-21
Glen Sept 17-18 (maybe would be first time here, kinda nervous after some crash fest stories from last year)
NJMP Oct 22-23

this is all permitting the new motor will actually hold together this year...

Is Pocono that bad?

Guess it depends on the car you're driving and personality. I am not a fan of rovals, but will say I like NHMS MUCH more than Pocono, and I never attend NHMS events.

Well that's too bad about ITB VIR attendance. May won't fit into my schedule this year. Knowing this is a big help with some other plans. Thanks for the confirmation.

It's just boring. T1 is pretty bumpy and gets the car all out of shape (unless you have a wide sense of immortality) and the rest is just left, right, left, right, OVAAAAAALLLLL!!!!, chicane, OVAAAAAALLLLL!!!!, T1.

But, there's no facilities, lunch counter is WAY over there and food is "meh", and there's nothing around it outside of the track.

Jake doesn't like it because it requires "horsepower" ;). He doesn't have any. Give him a BMW M3 and I bet he giggles now and then...

It's not terrible. It's just boring.

We're looking at local events for sure, and I'm hoping to get the time off to run the C event at Nelson Memorial Day weekend.
After that, more local stuff and another road trip probably. There's a Labor Day event at Summit that sounds fun, the fall events at the Glen, plus I have yet to make it to Jersey. Track looks like a blast! It would be fun to make it out for the October events.
I'd like to go back to VIR one day too, and Road America. That track was a huge grin!

I plan to do VIR, WGI and the NARRCoffs.

Hey Joe !, My fellow Fiesta/Ford afficionado !!....long time !

Glad someone still remembers it other than me....best car I ever owned !! After doing well in ITC my dad and I converted it to FP and after some issues we ran Nats. spent 8k on an MWE motor, formula ford dry sump, sidedrafts, rear disc conversion all new cage/chassis etc., glass flares, glass hood, the coolest Dodge Viper Blue Paint etc(looked like Xian's civic on here)....hands down the fastest/most expensive racing Fiesta in the country....in 1999 and we're running top 10 at Runoffs until I got caught in someone's spin. The car was very good, but with the little 28mm chokes and mandatory stock 4spd, it was restricted a good bit, the CRB moved it to GP for 2000 and to my surprise added 300 lbs. !!! from 1800 to 2100lbs. !!! Ya, it weighed more than it did in 1978 with your groceries and kids in it !! We ran it anyway at Summit,Lime Rock and Nelson Nats...2nd behind my best friends 510 at Rock and the other 2 races...yeah the rear hubs snapped snout off(fronts were billet). Then I was offered a deal to run Wilson Wrights GT4 Orange Civic...so in frustration....I did. Then came wedding and one car had to go..the Fiesta sold to Bill Davidson an English Engineer for Ford/Visteon who had worked for Jackie Stewart F1....needless to say Bill's smart and decided he wouldn't run prod...but rather GT4, taking advantage of the allowances in GT. After a few years of development the car was once again well known as Bill ran through the field to finish 4th at the Runoffs in GT4 and create quite a story on SpeedV. Last I knew Bill still ran the car at Waterford, but with the advent of the SIR he hasn't really run it in GTL.

How I miss that car...I've looked and if I still had it, those times from 97/98 would still be good in ITC.....I wish I didn't convert it and worse sell it.....Lesson learned..I was 23 and frustrated easily.

To think of the guys we ran with in ITC back then...some very good drivers...Steve Colleti-corolla/civic(now has pro teams I think), Grant Lockwood-vw scir, Bob Quindazzi-vw scir, Travis Washay in vw-rab(we had some great battles), Lee Kaufman(escort), Balcezac Brothers -ford exp. ....some really great races !

Glad to be back,
Joe Zingaro

My plan is to dog Andy to every race he goes to until I beat him straight up...............:eclipsee_steering:

Wait, let me get this straight - you are only planning on going to 4 events in 2011 those being at LRP and NHMS exclusively? Cause that's the only tracks Andy chooses to go to. If so, I will need to rearrange my schedule since you are now so exclusive with what tracks you race at. When did we all turn into such prima donnas?

Jeff, another question... are you ok with a gold streak of paint on your rear bumper? My gold painted PCI tow hook extends about 5 inches from my front bumper and could leave marks w/o damaging my bumper but would probably damage yours. On the other hand, I am willing to remove the tow hook for a tow loop as long as you're willing to pay for it. In this later case, the red marks left by my bumper would not stand out on your red rear bumper. what do you say? Let's be honest, even my car were to be sorted and ready, there's little chance of me catching Andy, but you... yeah, I am gunning for you.

well, weird off camber bumpy and cracked pavement left right left that is...
OVAAAAAALLLLL!!!!,straight, straight, straight even though you're turning.
chicane, weird chicane with bad rhythm and huge holes and dirt/mud inches off line
OVAAAAAALLLLL!!!!, T1.

But, there's no facilities, lunch counter is WAY over there the whole place is like a moonscape, everything seems far away
and food is "meh", IF you consider burgers cooked like the sole of a boot and hot dogs with god knows what inside and wonder white bread 'meh",
and there's nothing around it outside of the track.

Jake doesn't like it because it requires "horsepower" ;). He doesn't have any. True that, but I like Road Atlanta...and it's got a long straight

Put in an entry for the Mt Washington Hill Climb in June

Maybe another round at 24 hours of Lemons (see if we can get another brick of nickles)

I like Pocono (and I know Steph does too). And yes, people will say it's because I have gobs of horse power  (I have video that says otherwise....)
I like it because it takes drafting skill. Not many other places that it's that important. It can make for some exciting racing. I don't think I've ever had a boring race there.

Yeah, call me strange, but I had fun at Pocono.
Probably because Fred White and I got to bump draft and screw around on track there. :happy204:
It IS interesting to encounter rocks the size of jack stands in the middle of the infield portion though. And personally I like the oval part better there, mainly because the C car is so slow you can literally put it anyplace with your foot to the floor and not get even a little bit out of shape with it. Which made it fun to be able to pass other cars in any place you chose.
Personally, I HATE the oval at NHMS. Too flat, too tight, nothing interesting at all about it. (which sort of describes the entire circuit)
Ironic that the track I like the absolute least of all of them ends up being the one I have to run the most.
I so wish the type of circuit we have at LRP, or the Glen was up at NHMS.

Other than that,

- look into instructing,
- watch the B'more GP

Same as last year: double-tech at both Brian's Garage (http://www.briansgarage.com/) (Needham, MA) and 3D Autowerks (http://www.3dautoworks.com) (Hudson, NH), all day April 9th.

No school/Regional to start the year off, so check the annual date in your logbook and ensure you're not stuck in the tech line at the first event while your competition is out for first practice...

When is it? 'Cause the Honda ain't got no engine in it, my garage is unavailable waiting for the weather to break so we can pour a concrete floor, and my truck and trailer are under about 2 feet of snow.

If this race is any time before about, oh, mid April, ain't gonna happen...

May 7-8. DOOO EEEETTT! Just don't be slower then the ITS Integra! :D

Put in an entry for the Mt Washington Hill Climb in June.

This was high on my list and will likely be an awesome event with Travis and Ken involved and all that they bring... (Monster and Redbull) I wanted to go but a $900 entry is tough to justify with the wife! And added to that is that my cage doesn't meet the rally rules. :(
Still contemplating the idea but I bet it costs 4k for that one weekend...

Yeah, you're not kidding, but I've never done it, always thought I should give it a go. It cost nothing to apply, but the car isn't legal, I don't have any experience at it so it remains to be seen if I even get in. I can worry about adding gussets to the cage when I get the invite.

Seems I remember an Audi that had to get cut in half after a mishap on the road, so it must have been legal at some point in time. Be lucky that you did it when it was cheap?

I'm probably going to do 2 at Lime Rock and 2 at Watkins Glen. If I have time and money, I'd like to make it down to VIR once as well. I met a few of yall this past season but I didn't actually get to know anymore. Maybe this season I will be able to.

You'll need to add a bar if the cage dosent have an X in the main hoop. And add gussets at the windshield and main hoop to Halo bars. 2 Bars at base of doors at most 6 inches above floor, for tree intrusion. The website has the cage rules for the non-RallyCar entries.

My entry was submitted on the first day. I was the 7th entry on the 7th of September in the 77 RX7 how cool is that. Should be worth something.

Also gonna hit all the NHMS stuff,Possably LRP in June. its the weekend before the Climb to the Clouds. Tough justifying 350+ to LRP and then 900 To the hiilclimb in 1 week. Just entries is 1250.00 Shes gonna be pissed.

Dan (soon to be castrated)

Ed dont tell her anything.

Planning to show up this year (though not until August, probably) - targeting a couple of the late-season NHMS "triples". Actually have some parts on order for the car and everything. New kid/house/job over the last couple of years put a real crimp in the racing program.

I'm running the Pro IT schedule and all the NARRC races on the same weekends, NARRCoffs, and Summit in a few weeks. The JRRC and maybe another extra. Budget is set for $12,000 for 8-10 weekends from April to October.
