...that is being offered at the Annual Meeting.

I've held off on saying too much about it before hand, because we were working behind the scenes to make it happen.

And it did! http://www.ner.org/forums/Smileys/default/grin.gif http://www.ner.org/forums/Smileys/default/grin.gif http://www.ner.org/forums/Smileys/default/grin.gif

We have Jon Fontane with Virtual GT Racing Simulators from CT coming in with a pair of simulators for us to use for the day on January 8th.

Jon's facebook page is here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/High-Speed-Events-with-Virtual-GT-Racing-Simulators/199714415357 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/High-Speed-Events-with-Virtual-GT-Racing-Simulators/199714415357)

And an article about his simulator's here: http://www.westport-news.com/news/article/VirtualCT-Racing-Simulator-closest-to-the-real-328758.php (http://www.westport-news.com/news/article/VirtualCT-Racing-Simulator-closest-to-the-real-328758.php)

This is as close to the real thing that you can get to without actually strapping into a racecar. What a great way to show your family and friends what it's like when you are out there! And a cheap, no risk way for solo, rally or non drivers to see if this is something you would like to do!

These simulators are used for driver training in the pro circles. If you were to buy one, you would be paying about $40,000

Instead, you get to try them out without risking the exposure of the price of a small house.

This wouldn't be possible without the support of the following sponsors:

CPM Motorsports/CM Music
Greenfield Imported Cars
TRC Motorsports
Performance Motoring
Motion Dynamics

So...what exactly ARE we doing here???
Well...cheap race laps for starters. There are multiple tracks on these machines, and the realism is simply astounding! Best of all: We can run people on Lime Rock Park on identical setup and conditions and see who can REALLY drive the wheels off the car!

(I have a sneaking suspicion it will either be a ten year old kart kid, or someone's SO who will embarrass us all)

While we are HAVING FUN, we will also be doing it for a GOOD CAUSE!

We will be selling tickets for runs on these machines with the proceeds going to RACING AGAINST LEUKEMIA.
We will have final details at the meeting, but right now it looks like it will be in the neighborhood of 1 run for $5 (a run being several laps, exact number also TBD) 3 runs for $12 and 5 runs for $15. These are not set in stone yet, so check for final details at the event. We will have them posted at registration.

We have final details to iron out this week, and will be open to suggestions as well, so feel free to pm me with them. The main goal is to HAVE FUN and SUPPORT A GREAT CAUSE while doing so!

So everyone, please send your ideas in. Do you want to organize a challenge? Fenders against non fenders, solo against road racing, maybe top drivers across the spectrum against each other? There's plenty of ways we can do this.

Send in your meeting registrations and come on out! If you choose just to come for the day and the meetings, please stop in and race too!

January 7 through 9 at the Rocky Hill Marriot, the simulators will be there Saturday the 8th. See you there!

For the fun of it!
