I was looking at a honda rolling chassis today but it had one problem I was worried about before using it to build as a IT car.

The shifter hole in the floor was enlarged due to a swap it had.

Is it legal to weld in sheetmetal to get it back to original?

Technically, no, all repairs have to be per the factory service manual. However, if you cut out an OEM area from a junked car and weld it in there "properly", then I suggest no one will give you any grief over it. And if they do we'll collectively give them a wedgie...

Ditto. Weld something in there and if someone gives you shit, they get the paddock knudgie.

Love the directions to "modify your chassis" laying on the floor next to the hole. Weld in a piece of an old Chevy hood and bolt up the shift boot. DoneB)
