What are you using and why? I'm between RedLine's MTL and their MT-90, not sure which one is better for the vw. Opinions?

I used to use Redline MTL and never had an issue with it. However I switched to regular Honda tranny fluid. From what they say the new Honda fluid is actually better than Redline. But not sure how the factory VW tranny fluid would be. But I would say to stick with the MTL.

we use redline shockproof oil. No "transmission" failures yet.

However this won't protect it from floating large metal bits. From when you miss 5th and hit 3rd. Well tehcnically it didn't brake, the clutch blew up and went through the case and did some messagin to the diff, and final drive.

I would have to say MTL is the clear choice, for FWD boxes.

MTL, unless you have a clutch type diff, I now use Motul

If you're using a Quaife, they suggest "factory synthetic" or at least NOT a RedLine Shockproof. Quaife is very quick to point out that RedLine produces an excellent product but that it the Shockproof doesn't play well with the Quaife differential. I remember something about "too many solids" but I have a lousy memory and am not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination.

For my 020 box, I use Mobil 1 75w-90...

Decided to go with the MT-90, never used it before but from the description it seemed to be a better fit. Thinking of getting a wavetrac in the future.

Anybody change their final drive if so what did you go with and why?
