Here's a cabin fever quiz - What does Ohio code 4511.252 authorize?

Let's see who the real rules lawyers are!!!!!!!!

OK, only Josh was curious enough to look up the Ohio Revised Code. 5411-252 authorizes the closing of public roads to conduct sports car races and specifically designates that they must be conducted under the rules of the Sports Car Clubs of America.

So Bill,

When was the last time that was used? I've not seen a lot of Ohio, are there any good roads to have a race on?

Oh, yeah. Ohio is not full of mountains, but has plenty of hills! Just have to dodge the horse and wagons! :eclipsee_steering:

"In townships in this state composed entirely of islands"

Hmm. So, Put-in-Bay or Kelleys Island racing? Interesting. . .wonder if they'll allow something more powerful than a golf cart!

Actually, SCCA raced at Put-In-Bay many years ago, and last year there was a vintage event up there - parade laps only, IIRR.

The date on the code is 1963.

Just got done with the driveway and sidewalks - don't want it to be a big chore tomorrow morning. Maybe this year I'll invest in a snowblower !

Oh, shxt, could I design you a course on some rural roads east of Cleveland!

Which reminds me, at a recent local SCCA awards banquet, a track operator was telling the audience how her facility is committed to building the ranks of SCCA by conducting inexpensive track days. She singled me out as someone who "graduated" from her track days to SCCA racing. I wanted to say, "Sorry, hon. I cut my driving teeth on ABC Road in XYZ Valley. I only went to your place to gain a respite from the speeding tickets".:D

When I was going to college in New York City, we used to 'practice' in Forest Park in New York City, and also Forest Hills Gardens - very few straight roads!

Down here in florida I praticed in all the abandoned sub divisions. Many curvey roads, all leveled, zero houses.

It caught on, police patroled, but there was never a posted speed limit. I have heard of people getting wreckless driving though

There's nothing like outlaw road racing, although I would NEVER advise it.

(Maybe that's the attraction of IT for me. We are the outlaw category of SCCA.)

It's been said that a big reason Britain produced an inordinate number of Formula One drivers in the 1960s was because Stewart, Hill, Clark et al got their driving training on the country roads of Scotland, at a time when these roads were among the very few in Europe that still had no speed limits. Sir Jackie, for his part, used to pickup/deliver customer vehicles to/from his father's auto repair shop. And he did his job with gusto. No wonder he won one-quarter of the grands prix he entered!

We have a ton of snow here in Northern NJ. Used my ATV to build a very large track, pulling the kids on sleds to pack it down good.

Then we took the off-road go kart and started making our own NASCAR roundy round. It was fun but the kart spun the wheels to much to build any major speed. I might have to get a set of tire chains. It was a driving challenge though - very squirelly and easy to drive off into the drifts. Pulled children out of the drifts with the ATV.

Still snowing out there...

Go get a bag of plate screws at Advance and screw them into the lugs of the off road tires. Your lawn will never be the same.
