I am looking for some wide 13" wheels suitable for road racing, and not finding a lot to choose from without breaking the bank.

Rota makes their Panasport lookalike, model RB in 13X8 in 4X100 bolt pattern, but it looks like the hub bore it too large, either 67 or 73mm, depending on who's ad you are looking at.

The other option is the steel circle track wheels from Diamond Racing.

The Diamond wheels are lug centric, and while probably stronger than the Rotas are a couple pounds heavier. They are also available in pretty much any width I want.

With the Rotas I will need hub-centric spacers, but from what I can find with the Diamonds I will need a "torque ring" whatever that is.

Anyone ran either of these? What backspace would I need on the Diamonds for an A1 GTI?

Anything else I should consider?

Thanks,

Tom

I use Superlight wheels with larger hub centers routinely. I just make sure I am using the right type of lug nut seat for that wheel and bolt them on.

However in the past I have gotten aluminum hub centric rings from Discount Tire.
