So who still builds SCCA legal 1.8 8V engines in the VW world?
Techtonics used to. I'm assuming BSI no longer does since their web site has very few VW parts on it. Who's left?

Conover Motor Sports in Burlington, NC did my 2.0. A 1.8 would be no worries for them. We put a JILLION miles on the first build before it got freshened up this past summer.

Ignore the illegal cam pulley. That was my dumb-ass fault.

Not a whole lot of info on their web site. Do they offer turn key motors with core exchanges? Costs?
Thanks

Just email or call Cameron Conover, tell him what you want to do, and he'll price it out for you. There's always some latitude that can influence cost so he does them to your specs.

I do about 4 VW each year. They run about 2000$ on a good core. , Plus bore is more. Trap door pan is more.
Includes balance, and ready to run. Dyno cam timing runs about 300add. etc.

We are still building motors at Atlantic Auto Works/Boles Motorsports. IT,Prod and GT prep. Absolutely legal and some of the fastest VWs around run our stuff. We also do Megaquirt conversions (usually good for 6 to 10% more power over stock ecu)

Ralf,

If you're looking for a turn key engine/trans combo I am changing my old A2 ITB Golf to the STU class. I am pulling the drive train out shortly. SE div #97 Pink 7th 2006 ARRC, 4th 2006 SARRC
What I have is strong legal drivetrain complete with the ignition, fuel system etc. This engine was originally built by Boles Motorsport with 4 races on the freshening.
Was balanced and blueprinted with ARP fasteners, trick oil pan etc. Will sell complete with alum. pressure plate,4 puck disc and 020 transaxle with quaffe. $2000 or will separate.
If you'd like we can run it on a dyno before pulling.
You can contact me at pittstimd at gmail dot com
