I've got a new clutch for the racecar that "requires" 500 miles of break in. I don't think I raced more than 500 miles this past season (4 road races and 2 time trial events.) So the stupid question is, how does one break in a new clutch in a racecar?
It's not like I can drive it back and forth to work during
the off season.:eclipsee_steering:

Any info would greatly be appreciated.

You don't..

Afew dyno pulls, perhaps--but not 500 miles worth!

I assume you have one of those ceramic clutches?

Nope, just a Spec Clutch. Carbon graphite clutch material.

Bring the car up to normal operating temperature.
Tie the rear axle with very heavy rope and tie that to a nearby tre........

I have a Spec clutch in my Neon, Stage 3 I think, and had the same question. Couldn't really come up with a good answer, so I just went racing. It took maybe 3 weekends (which so happens to be roughly 500miles) to really start to stick on upshifts. Now, another 8 weekends later, it still works like a dream. I had the trans out mid season this year, and quite honestly, if I were to put the clutch back in the box, I would be hard pressed to tell it from a new one.

Thanks for the input. I'll run a couple of track days before next racing season starts to at least break it in a little bit.
