AWD in ITA, ITB & ITC

Let's find some AWD options for the other IT Classes...

Audi 4000CS Quattro... 5cyl same engine as the Audi Coupe GT 115hp same front venteddisco brakes and 7.9 solid rear disk brakes. Should be around or under 2,300lbs in ITB if classed correct.

1990/91 Audi Coupe Quattro 164hp 20 valve engine disk brakes all the way around... Probably Would get bumped to IT but should be super light.

What are someother cool options BMW 325ix? Dodge stealth? Eagle Talon?

Search for pics of the Eagle in SS trim. Saw them at LRP,mid 80s raceing in IMSA classes. Maybe they were actually Gremlins? Dick may actually know being the father of "raceing time"

the mazdas were the 323 gtx if i remember and was directed more towards the rally world, great cars, i actually had a 1980 glc. I believe team highball(i think was the name) campaigned some in the 80's

The Golf III makes 115 hp stock, and is @ 2350#, which some have said is 50# light (rear beam negative adder). I'm thinking that AWD is going to carry some kind of weight penalty (50#?, 100#? xxx#?).

Do people think AWD should carry a penalty or is the penalty already built in with extra drivetrain losses? Would probably not get the FWD subtractor either.

A 115hp AWD car in ITB would probably weight 2445.

I agree with Jeff. Dry performance should be poor enough with the extra losses to prevent an overdog and while it will be better in bad conditions that is really a case of horses for courses,

AWD would be an instant podium finisher at LRP, Dick....given the fact that it always rains....LOL

I'll play the flip side.... (this will sound protectionist and prod forum-esque) They should be given their process weight plus 200 Lbs.

We have no way of quanitfying their on track performance until they are built and therefore should be initially classified with a clear disadvantage until we understand their performance in SCCA sactioned races as legal cars.

I know that it's not legal, but are you planning on recording the stock torque split and center diff type? I'm just saying that spools and dummy center diffs may end up in the transfer case if you're not carefull and no one checks it :shrug:
