A category much like IT, with a good ruleset where one can race competitively on a reasonable budget, with people that are generally fun to hang out with at the racetrack, with different car types, etc... that DOESN'T have a website where people bitch nonstop about the rules? :dead_horse:

Seriously. If anyone knows about that category let me know.

Yeah, well I'm looking for a place where beautiful women fight over who gets to take me home for the night, and sporting goods companies fight over whose products I will be paid millions to endorse....I think my chances are better :D

Oval track racing? But that's just because they don't know how to use the internet. :D

This an easy question. The answer, regional production.
As long as you do not get caught up in the stupidity that is National production car racing, regional production is a great play ground.
The dynamic is really simple, show up with your IT car with a fire system and the door glass removed. Take the green, stay running and continue to circulate around the track while watching the "real" production cars drop like Englishmen (apologies to the Brits) on a 95 degree humid day. Make sure that you avoid the oil and other bits dropped on the racing surface by faster cars than yours. Race against cars that should be much faster than you and beat them because although you are down 25 horsepower to them you know the line and understand how to carry speed into the corner and out.
Pull into impound and tell stories about fire, smoke, oil and parts falling off of other cars (sometimes all at once). Collect trophy later.

Shit, I just gave away all the secrets. Crap......:happy204:

cheers

Bowie,
Start spamming this site with porn get yourself banned. Admin will ban you from site. Then you get to race in IT which is a great category and you will not have to read the rules threads.

Oval track is great racing. gets you ready for SM. Only SM is a lot dirtier.
Our rules are simple, stock suspension, any cam that pulls 17in of vacuum, Big ass slicks, 25# added per evry three feature wins. The cars make a lot more laterl grip than an IT car.
We are now up 100#.
It has been a great way to learn racing awareness, car control among 25 of your best friends. If you dont speak well of oval track , than you have not tried it. MM

You could always try the SEDIV TT series. :) Waaaaay more laid back than some other places I play. Good people, Lot's of fun and they run some interesting places, CMP, NSS, TGPR, and those scenic courses at Eagle's Nest, Crow Mountain, etc.

Neat cars, neat people, neat places to play, Just saying :)

In fact, there is one coming up in just a few weeks at Crow Mountain. See this thread:

I know the registrar and I can guarantee that you will not be charged a fee if you no show. :happy204:

Only slightly tongue in cheek, runs and hides....

I'm to the point where I'm so content in the IT ruleset we currently have and my belief that the ITAC has the collective IT community's best interests at heart, that I don't even go into the Rules & Reg's portion of this site anymore. Just the same old people screaming about the same old stuff. But whatever, I can very easily not click on the threads.

When I announced that I was going to be building and racing an FP car last spring, I got a whole lot of "Hey man, you know about those Prod guys, right? They're not very welcoming, hate n00bs, and all they do is constantly bitch about their class and its rules!" Oh really? Well I hate to inform you guys that so far this season, I've seen a lot more whinning and bitching about the class and its rules from the IT guys than I have from the Prod guys. And, by far the most mean spirited, behind the back, cowardly shit I've seen/heard from racers this year towards other racers has also come from the IT crowd, not Prod. Can't wait for the Runoffs next week.

I found it quite amusing to overhear some of the conversations this weekend about illegal fuel injectors among other items at a county fair. These guys were talking about pretty regular lawn tractors that were doing some tractor pull contest. LOL It was actually pretty impressive to see their nice trucks and large enclosed trailer to tote around the small tractors.

This stuff happens everywhere.

too small to work on...........

1/10th scale RC carpet oval anyone????

How about VTA, Vintage Trans Am???

Trust me, there is just as much bickering in RC racing as well. When I got back into the hobby 2 years ago, I went with NiCds and brushed motors, I knew them well. Just like tuning a carb, knowing the jets and pump springs, etc.

After I kicked butt for two points series and killed the class, everyone changed to brushless/lipos, think of it as fuel injection.

I haven't won a race since. Close, but not a win.

With the old motor I had HP, setup wasn't much of a issue. With new motors, all being nearly equal, setup is EVERYTHING.

Blow a corner and it's like ITC racing....momentum to the front!

But I don't have to trailer my race cars home, no garage needed for storage....you get the idea.

+1 to that!!!

Of course, I have to admit I'm now mostly in F-it mode about IT. Building a new car will do that, I guess.

I've decided to take a bigger plunge than Ruck - new class is something like only 3 pages of the GCR! Faster than an Atlantic, price of an ITR, and no more bitching about washer bottles and stock cams... :eclipsee_steering:
