Any details on this event yet?
I have several cars ready to race and would like to start making plans.
Thanks in advance,
Carver

I sent the sanction request off yesterday, so I expect/hope we'll be able to open registration by next weekend.

Move-in Thursday night (9/3) starts at 7:00.

Friday is an SCCA Test Day - probably four run groups. $225 for the full day, $150 if you sign up after 11:30.

Seven SARRC run groups + Pro-IT. Car counts based on 2008 are in (parentheses):

1 - Pro-IT (25)
2 - Wings & Things (23)
3 - FP, HP, ITB, ITC, STU (20)
4 - IT7, ITA, ITR, ITS (28)
5 - Big Noise (24)
6 - Small Formula (19)
7 - SM, SSB, SSC, T-3 (33)
8 - EP, GTL, SPU, SRF (27)

Pro-IT (which is a double points event) qualifies first thing Saturday morning, races just before lunch on Sunday. All other groups qualify and race each day.

Saturday's qualifying sessions are 15 minutes, races are 15 laps (or 30 minutes).

Sunday's qualifying sessions are 12 minutes, races are 15 laps (or 30 minutes).

Pro-IT is $250, Single SARRC is $250, Double SARRC is $395 (plus appropriate compliance fees for SM, SRF, FE).

I'll be glad to answer any other questions you might have...

Is the format just qual/race or is there any practice time (other than the test day)?

Steve,

Sorry, but it's Qualify/Race each day, no practice sessions. We can't get on the track until 8:00 each morning (although we CAN start race engines at 7:00 - none of the "Group x proceeds to Grid under Tow only" crap) and we have to be off the track by 5:00 each day. Even one minute over costs $1000, and my projected timeline has us getting off the track at 4:55 each day. Dropping Pro-IT (which I thought about) would gain us 40 minutes each day, but even that's not enough time to add practice sessions for seven groups.

We did add the partial day option for Friday for 2009, so hopefully that will help.

You can count on three entries out of my garage, maybe four.
ITS, ITA, ITE and ITA.
Thanks,
Carver

Well, I am officially out for this event. The motor in my car is down on power and I overheated it at Nashville. Figured I would save my pennies and go ahead and build the motor so I can at least keep up with the fast guys. Motor down on power plus the second kid entering college made the choice a little easier. Having two in college at the same time seriously cuts into the racing budget. Oldest will graduate with 2 degrees in the spring so next year looks promising.

I will be visiting the paddock in my whites after standing a corner for you guys. ITS is stout this year. I look forward to seeing the new "shape of things to come" streaking around the track. :)

We appear to have the Triumph's distributor woes sorted out, and barring any unexpected issues on the dyno next week, I plan on being there.

Looking forward to my first trip to Barber. Butch convinced me I won't be fined to death if I get run off the track!

Sadly Jeff, I can't keep up with you guys any more and Barber does not look like it's too hard on brakes so you'll leave me for dead. However, I'm sure there will be someone there to tussle with.

The track looks like a good layout for the RX7 with judicial use of momentum to make up for no torque.

See ya all there.

I am stoked and ready to go.
I guess we will put the cars back together so they let us run them when we get there.

Hey Butch,
Are there going to be any tire vendors there?

Appalachian Tire is usually at the event. If you know you'll need a set then you could call them beforehand.

Yes, Appalachian Tire will be at Barber. Hurry and contact them, it may not be too late to order tires for the race.

Well heck... I'm officially out for the Barber race. Too many irons in the fire to get everything together for the trip. I just don't want to do a 6 and a half hour tow when I'm not prepared. Have a great race everyone! Post results as soon as you can.....

Dang Steve, that is bad luck. I don't know if Ron Munnerlyn will be making it now either. He had some engine problems and it might knock him out.

You get those car pics for the 13 hour?

Oh Steve it wasn't that bad. Just ask Ron to post the last 2 laps and you will see. I had a great time last weekend and Congrats to Ron for winning in the rain on Sat. The start was very hairy. I never know the back of a 944 could be so big when Kip Vansteinburg hit the brakes at the 500 mark at turn 5 on the first lap of that race. Sunday was awesome. Here is my Sunday video.

Saturday's race was a true test of sanity and/or testicular granduer! Of course, after everyone spread out a little, visability wasn't too bad. Good race by all!

Sadly I got railed by a SM in the PRO IT race on Sunday when it was nice and dry.
Guy did not even come find me to say he was sorry. I guess that is why SCCA memberships are dropping so fast.
Great track and great people who were driving clean.
Maybe we will be back again in the future.

I got taken out as well in the group 8 race on sunday by a Spec Recker (SRF).
I am wondering now if I should have protested him so he would get a fine or points on his license. I didn't want to start anything because it was the last group of the weekend and I know every one was ready to go home.

It really does put a bad taste in your pocket and spirit.
We have a local series that runs a 13/13 rule so the metal to metal is cut way down.
But as I was told when I confronted him, it is part of racing.
I did not know untill now, I have never wrecked one.
Sorry to hear about another racer taken out.

Thanks for the info.
