This was sent to workers and Volunters from Earl Hulbert Chair of the Glen Region !! Hello to all -

Thank you for being a part of the Glen Region July Sprints. Now it's "SHOWTIME". Terri Dobbs tells me that as of today we have 250 entries for this weekend. We can thank the DI Pro-IT group for a tremendous number of entries and double entries. Apparently, they intend to show the IT world who owns the Glen this weekend!!
The strong turnout for this weekend offers us an opportunity to demonstrate how a race should be organized and conducted. We must remember to show our appreciation to everyone who came to play in our sandbox. Professional level service, hospitality and cooperation by all of us will assure a great weekend for entrants and volunteers alike.

See you at the track -

Earl

Any way to negotiate with the track an entry window on Thursday night? I know the insurance issue but what if they counted us on the way in and on the way out? We are bringing 17 cars...yes 17. Gates open at 6am...tough morning to get in and get the compound set up before the test day starts.

I talked to the track today. They were polite but unflexible. Anything Glen Region could do this race or in the future?

Zowie! Bettencourt to TWO "new" tracks in one year...?

God save all of us.

... we're better off trying to convince them we do not need full course yellows for every incident.

We all know what the WGI rules are for early admission you should plan accordingly if you bring multiple vehicles or 1 vehicle.

Will the track allow us to use the winners podium? I would like to setup our banners there the same way World challenge did weeks ago.

I suppose we could bring fewer entries to make it easier.

It would be nice if the host region could work out something with the track to provide a 'window' of time to drop cars and set up areas. We do know it has to do with insurance. Maybe we could work with the track or the insurance providers to get creative. Just because it's always been a certain way doesn't mean it can't get better.

I know it's a long shot but it would be great to pose the problem and some potential solutions to the track.

Does anyone know how long Pro-IT qualifying is? The supps read like it is 15 minutes and I know we usually get around 30.

I exchanged emails with the Ed and Earl a few weeks ago to clarify this.

30 minutes on Saturday just before lunch and the 45 minute race is Sunday morning after hardship. All of course subject to change but I doubt it, the Glen Region puts on a great event.

The TeamDI Pro IT qualifying session will be 30 minutes. The supps are unclear in this area. I have talked with Chuck Dobbs, the event Chief Steward, and determined that we will have our normal qualifying session.

The Pro IT at the Glen looks like it will be a barn burner with 48 entries already in the NESCCA online system.

Spec RX-7 and IT7 are different...

I figured as much - I guess FLR is not keeping IT7 records. Anyone?

Also, are we running both courses this weekend? Supps say "course depends on number of flaggers." I guess we'll wait and see OR we'll have to recruit more flaggers.

Has anyone considered an ITA - ITR/ITS split start would be awsome considering there are 23 A cars entered and it would be nice not to have to deal with ITS/ITR traffic.

ITR/S and their bloody fast cars - what nerve? :)

I believe one of us placed a request for split start (Andy?). i believe it's a fairly uninamious request from the ITA group. Contact the stewadship - perhaps we'll get it by sheer number of requests.

Historically this weekend has always been the long course. Since I've going any way.

Tom,

Do whatever is needed to post the results to Mylaps. The lap charts and individual lap times are interesting (to me) for post-race analysis.

I agree - gotta get the lap times posted. It's always interesting to see all of the lap times for oneself, in addition to other people.

Other than that, I thought it was a well run weekend by the region.

Joe, the Girls in the beer tent are under the control of WGI and said they would take your suggestion under advisement:p However they did say that you could help out if you wore your Speedo:lol:

Now on a more serious note regarding MY-laps. The current software used by the Glen region is orbitz one(?) The region would need to upgrade to orbitz 4 according to info at the meeting. Plus apparently there is another upgrade lurking in the wings and cost is significant. The other issue becomes operating the new system. I'm certain other regions have some of the same issues, since we all use volunters to man these systems sometimes have to tread lightly with changes. Perhaps a "Professional" timing group? But at what cost?? TW

If you're going to make stuff up, try to be a BIT believable, Tom. Joe? In a Speedo? NObody wants to even think about that, much less see it!

I imagine there's a way to produce an electric file containing lap times. Could even be in an excel format. Put the file on the regions website, and allow people to download from there. It doesn't have to be on mylaps. Might this be possible?

Let me check. Also seems like on my laps we were able to compare our times to another competitor that function seems to have gone away?

Tom,

It is still there. You have to click on your name from the results page. Once that opens up there is a drop-down on the right, below the graph and above the chart, that lets you select another driver for comparison.

Any progress on finishing construction on I-81?

Dave, thanks for the info on mylaps. I found it! 81 Is STILL under construction north of clarks summit went to National at Pocono and cut over on turnpike at Bear creek exit and came back north to 6 and home to avoid as it was backed up for looooooooooooooong ways because of the bridge work!!
